Current Closer: Brad Boxberger

(6/18): Following the offseason departure of Fernando Rodney, who signed a one-year contract with the Twins after saving 39 games last season, the Diamondbacks entered spring training without a closer. Manager Torey Lovullo cleared things up late in camp, announcing March 27 that Boxberger would serve as the team's closer to open the season.

After converting his first 11 saves of the season, Boxberger has endured some turbulence of late, blowing three of his last eight chances. There isn't any indication Lovullo is planning to shake things up at closer, but Boxberger will need to scale back the walks and home runs in his subsequent appearances in order to build up some extra job security.

Should Boxberger fall victim to injury or see his performance worsen, Bradley would be the top option to take over at closer. Bradley found his calling as a high-leverage reliever in 2017, with an upper-90s fastball and an improved ability to find the strike zone aiding his success. He's maintained his level of performance so far in 2018 and has already picked up a pair of saves when Boxberger wasn't available. Bradley still warrants a roster spot in most formats even without the closing gig given his tidy ERA and solid ratios.

Hirano brings closing experience from his time in Japan the last five seasons, but he has been forced to settle for setup work in his first foray in the majors. Hirano doesn't offer premium velocity, but controls his pitches well and has excelled at generating groundballs, which has allowed him to emerge as a dependable seventh- and eighth-inning man for the Diamondbacks.
