2016 Fantasy Outlook
The Orioles pulled a curious move when they signed Navarro to a big league deal one year ago despite him not having any big league experience. It was widely expected he would not get anything better than a minor-league deal. Navarro spent most of the 2015 season at Triple-A, though he missed some time early in the season with a groin injury. It is notable that the Orioles did not promote Navarro in September and instead promoted the likes of Paul Janish. The Orioles waived Navarro and he was picked up by the Angels. Navarro is a defense-first player, but he had seven errors in 89 games at Triple-A. Navarro had hard contact on just 14.8 percent of his batted balls last season. Though that came in a small sample size, it could be indicative of his lack of offensive production. Navarro will be an underdog against Ryan Flaherty and Paul Janish in an effort to secure a backup role this spring.
