Weekly Pitcher Rankings: Roy's Rollin'

This article is part of our Weekly Pitcher Rankings series.

I'm a Brandon Belt owner in multiple leagues, and I can't fathom Bruce Bochy's thinking. Belt gets off to a 1-for-11 start and now he's found pine for four games running. I guess when you have a washed up Aubrey Huff (batting .200), you have to find at-bats for him, right? Sigh ...

Notes: Zack Greinke
is off to a terrible start, but isn't that about the time you should consider buying low? "How low" depends on your league, but there might be an opportunity. ... Tim Hudson (back) had a horrible first rehab start this week (four innings, nine hits, five runs), but put more stock in his next start than this one. ... Chad Billingsley has a 15:1 K:BB in 14.1 innings over two starts and could be poised for a season in which he's a legitimate No. 2 starter. ... Tim Lincecum is averaging just 90 mph with his fastball over two starts (12.91 ERA). This compares to averages of 92.4, 91.4, and 92.3 over the past three years. ... Mat Latos has a 5:5 K:BB over 9.2 innings in his first two starts. That's not quite what the Reds had in mind when they emptied their farm system for him, but let's not panic just yet. ... It's easy to forget Ross Detwiler was a former top-six overall pick. After striking out six in five two-hit shutout innings in his 2012 debut, Detwiler looks like a nice NL-only option. ... Joe Wieland makes his big-league debut in Dodger Stadium on Saturday (barring a last-minute change). Wieland checked in with a 150:21 K:BB in 155.2 minor league innings last year and should be scooped up in NL-only leagues immediately. Dustin Moseley appears to have a serious should injury, leaving the possibility Wieland could stick around if he impresses this weekend.

Notes:
So much for spring training stats. Francisco Liriano has a 10.00 ERA through his first two starts. It's not exactly panic time just yet, but it's certainly time for some concern. ... Jerome Williams is back and will get the start Sunday against the Yankees. It's probably a good idea to bench him for this one until we see how effective he can be. Should Williams struggle, Garrett Richards could be the guy to get the call from Triple-A. ... Ricky Romero used to be the butt of "THIS guy was taken ahead of Troy Tulowitzki in the draft?" jokes, and while the Blue Jays would certainly be better off having taken Tulo, Romero has turned himself into one of the league's better pitchers. He's obviously an every-week starter. ... If I'm going to own any Royals starters (I don't), it's going to be Danny Duffy. Duffy's four walks highlight the main concern about him, but holding the A's to one hit over six shutout innings was a nice start to 2012. ... Freddy Garcia (three runs over 4.2 innings) is the early leader in the race to be booted from the rotation once Andy Pettitte is ready. Phil Hughes still has time here to catch up, however. ... Let's see what happens when he faces the Angels and Yankees, but a nice first start for Neftali Feliz - 7 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 4 K. ... Daisuke Matsuzaka (Tommy John) hit 94 mph in an extended spring game and could be ready to return by June. That's about how long Dan Bard has to prove he should stick in the rotation.
