FanDuel MLB: Thursday Value Plays

FanDuel MLB: Thursday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

Pitcher

Jhoulys Chacin, SD at SF ($7,800) – According to some metrics, Chacin actually gets a park upgrade tonight despite being away from Petco. He's scored at least 22 fantasy points in nine straight games (seven quality starts) and the Giants are terrible against against righties. They're last in league wOBA (.289) and ISO (.132).

Catcher

Yasmani Grandal, LAD vs ATL ($2,900) – Grandal's best splits come at home against right-handed pitching. That's what he'll get tonight against Mike Foltynewicz in Los Angeles, where Grandal owns a .376 wOBA against that handedness. Meanwhile, Foltynewicz's worst splits are against left-handed hitters (.375 wOBA allowed this year).

First Base

Mike Napoli, TEX at BAL ($2,900) – Napoli has come on as of late, sporting a 1.107 OPS over his last 14 games (six home runs in July) and has hit southpaws harder this season than right-handed pitching. Napoli has a .344 wOBA against lefties this season and a career .386 mark against them. Tonight he gets a soft-tossing lefty in Wade Miley, who has a 5.40 ERA and a .385 wOBA allowed against right-handed hitters.

Second Base

Jonathan Schoop, BAL vs TEX ($3,200) – There are a few options to consider for the Orioles tonight (Manny Machado, Mark Trumbo, Adam Jones), but Schoop seems to fly under the radar. He's has a robust .379 wOBA against left-handed pitching this season and gets Cole Hamels tonight. Hamels' worst splits this season are on the road against right-handed hitters.

Shortstop

Didi Gregorius, NYY at SEA ($2,900) – This price is still too cheap for a guy with a .359 wOBA against right-handed pitching. Oddly, that mark jumps to .428 on the season when he's away from Yankee Stadium, and Felix Hernandez isn't nearly the same pitcher he once was. On the season, Hernandez is giving up a .376 wOBA to left-handed hitters at home.

Third Base

Kyle Seager, SEA vs NYY ($3,200) – He's not the cheapest, but considering that Seager is only the seventh highest-priced third baseman on a five-game slate, it isn't too bad. While Luis Severino has been a very good pitcher this season, Seager's home numbers against right-handed pitching trump that. Seager has a .339 wOBA at home against righties this year.

Outfield

Matt Kemp, ATL at LAD ($3,100) – Before yesterday's game, Kemp was in a nice groove having reached base in 14 straight games. He has a .385 wOBA against right-handed pitching on the road this season, and while Brandon McCarthy isn't an ideal matchup, he's given up a higher wOBA to right-handed hitters than lefties this season.

Trey Mancini, BAL vs TEX ($3,000) – Mancini is is hitting over .300 on the season with 15 home runs. While his numbers are similar when comparing home and away stats, his .376 wOBA at home is slightly better than on the road (.371).

Clint Frazier, NYY at SEA ($2,400) – Frazier continues to be a solid cash game staple given his price and that he's raked since getting called up to the big club. He has a .944 OPS in 49 plate appearances with the Yankees, and while Felix Hernandez has been worse against left-handed hitters, he's also given up a .359 wOBA to right-handed bats this season.
