DraftKings MLB: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

PITCHER

Michael Wacha, STL at CHC ($9,000): Wacha is quietly starting to look like the frontend starter we saw in 2015. He has struck out 26 batters over his last three starts, notching a complete game shutout against the Mets in his most recent outing. The Cubs have tallied a .317 wOBA against right-handed pitching to go along with a bottom-10 RAA against the cutter, which rates as the most valuable pitch in Wacha's arsenal this season (4.2 RAA).

Dinelson Lamet, SD at SF ($7,500): There was a fair bit of hype surrounding Lamet after the 25-year-old struck out 12 Brewers in just six innings earlier this month, but back-to-back rough performances have stifled his momentum. Lamet should have a chance to show his talents against the Giants, who have the lowest wOBA (.291) and ISO (.131) against right-handed pitching this season.

CATCHER

Salvador Perez, KC vs. CWS ($4,000): Perez has been a quiet powerhouse in 2017, notching an ISO no lower than .230 from either side of the platoon. Meanwhile, opposing starter Derek Holland has allowed a .551 slugging percentage and 19 home runs against his opposite hand over 77 innings this year.

FIRST BASE

Jose Abreu, CWS at KC ($4,500): DFS players need to look to exploit Travis Wood for as long as he remains in the Royals' rotation. The veteran southpaw has a 6.81 ERA in his 27 games (two starts) this season. Abreu has shown indiscriminate power in 2017, but he has been a far better hitter against lefties, as evidenced by his .433 wOBA through 86 at-bats.

SECOND BASE

Scooter Gennett, CIN vs. MIA ($4,100): Add Tom Koehler to the list of perennial stack targets, as he has allowed a .634 slugging percentage to left-handed hitters over 19.2 innings. Gennett has logged a .309 ISO and a 41 percent hard contact rate against righties this season, which has earned the 27-year-old regular playing time at second base for the time being.

THIRD BASE

Eduardo Escobar, MIN vs. DET ($3,600): Escobar is worth a look as a value play whenever he is facing a lefty due to his .210 ISO over 81 at-bats this season. Opposing starter Matt Boyd will enter the contest sporting a 9.5 percent walk rate and 43 percent hard contact rate allowed to right-handed hitters in 51.2 innings.

SHORTSTOP

Enrique Hernandez, LAD vs. ATL ($3,700): Hernandez has torn the cover off the ball against righty hurlers this season, as evidenced by his .413 ISO and .423 wOBA over 92 at-bats. There is evidence that the league may be adjusting to Sean Newcomb after his impressive four-start run in June, as the young southpaw has allowed 16 runs in just three outings (12.2 innings) this month.

OUTFIELD

Khris Davis, OAK at NYM ($4,600): Opposing starter Rafael Montero doesn't seem to get hit particularly hard, but his below-average walk rate has contributed to a 5.40 ERA over 19 games (five starts) this season. It is also worth noting that Montero's fastball clocks in at minus-3.5 RAA, while Davis holds a 12.0 RAA against the heater.

Nelson Cruz, SEA vs. NYY ($4,800):Luis Cessa hasn't fared well during his time in the rotation this season, as righties have hammered him to the tune of a .656 slugging percentage over 13.2 innings. Cruz has done his best work against same-handed opposition, tallying a .245 ISO in 261 at-bats.

Giancarlo Stanton, MIA at CIN ($5,600):Sal Romano is another young starter who hasn't looked impressive during his brief stint with the big club. He has allowed 11 runs (10 earned) in just 12 innings, yielding a slugging percentage greater than .600 over that span. Meanwhile, Stanton has logged a .295 ISO and 38 percent hard contact rate against righties this season.
