DraftKings MLB: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

PITCHER

Max Scherzer, WAS at NYM ($12,900): Scherzer has averaged 25.7 fantasy points per game in three starts versus the Mets this season, racking up 26 strikeouts over 22 innings. He's also averaging 26.4 fantasy points over 15 road starts on the strength of a 1.84 ERA and .227 wOBA allowed, and he has between seven and 10 strikeouts in seven of his last eight starts.

Jaime Garcia, NYY at TOR ($7,200): Garcia dominated the Twins in his last start to the tune of 28.4 fantasy points, and he has a chance for another strong outing against a Blue Jays squad that has a 23.0 percent strikeout rate, .282 wOBA and AL-low 22.8 percent strikeout rate versus southpaws at Rogers Centre over the last month. He carries some nice upside for tournaments at his price, having scored over 20 fantasy points in three of his last 10 starts.

CATCHER

Chris Iannetta, ARI vs. MIA ($3,800): Iannetta hit 11 of his 16 homers on the season off righties, helping lead to a .349 wOBA and .261 ISO, along with a 43.6 percent hard contact rate versus that handedness at Chase Field. Marlins starter Dan Straily has allowed a .373 wOBA (including 13 homers) to right-handed hitters on the road, while Marlins relievers have a 6.16 ERA and .421 wOBA alowed against righty bats on the road in September.

FIRST BASE

Joey Gallo, TEX at OAK ($3,500): A's starter Jharel Cotton has been touched by lefty bats at home for a .416 wOBA, 6.97 xFIP and 33.0 percent hard contact rate, while Gallo sports a .377 wOBA, .387 ISO, 28.6 percent HR/FB rate and 46.9 percent hard contact rate versus right-handed pitching on the road. Cotton is allowing a .372 wOBA when throwing his four-seam fastball, a pitch that Gallo has a .449 wOBA against. A's relievers also have a 5.63 ERA and have allowed a .400 wOBA to left-handed hitters at home in September.

SECOND BASE

Kolten Wong, STL at PIT ($3,700): Wong provides some cost-effective left-handed exposure to Pirates starter Jameson Taillon, who's allowed a .373 wOBA and 25.1 percent line-drive rate to left-handed hitters, and who has a 5.25 ERA in 73.2 home innings. Meanwhile, Wong has a .347 wOBA and 21.2 percent line-drive rate against righties, and a .371 wOBA versus the sinker, a pitch Taillon has allowed a .400 wOBA on. Pirates relievers also have allowed a .347 wOBA to lefty bats at home in September.

THIRD BASE

Evan Longoria, TB at BAL ($4,000): Longoria has a .327 wOBA (including 13 homers) against right-handed pitching, along with a 33.5 percent hard contact rate. Meanwhile, Orioles starter Dylan Bundy has allowed 14 homers and a 32.9 percent hard contact rate to righty bats. Orioles relievers have also yielded a .321 wOBA (including five homers) to right-handed hitters at Camden Yards this month.

SHORTSTOP

Marcus Semien, OAK vs. TEX ($4,500): Semien has enjoyed success versus southpaws at home this season, as evidenced by a .380 wOBA, and he boasts a 39.0 percent hard contact rate versus that handedness overall. Rangers starter Martin Perez has been touched up by righties for a .360 wOBA (including 19 homers) and a 34.7 percent hard contact rate. He's also allowing a .391 wOBA when throwing his sinker, a pitch that Semien has a .342 wOBA against.

OUTFIELD

Marcell Ozuna, MIA at ARI ($4,200): Ozuna boasts a .347 wOBA against lefties, including a 40.0 percent hard contact rate when facing them on the road. Meanwhile, Diamondbacks starter Patrick Corbin has allowed 20 homers to right-handed hitters, leading to a .349 wOBA, along with a 33.9 percent hard contact rate when facing them at Chase Field. He's also allowing a .407 wOBA when throwing his four-seam fastball, a pitch that Ozuna has a .464 wOBA against. Finally, Arizona relievers are allowing a .417 wOBA and have a 7.82 ERA versus righty bats at home in September.

Shin-Soo Choo, TEX at OAK ($3,300): The struggles of Jharel Cotton and the A's bullpen versus left-handed hitters at home were detailed earlier, while Choo checks in with a .341 wOBA (including 20 homers), 22.5 percent HR/FB rate and a 40.7 percent hard contact rate versus right-handed pitching. He also sports a .424 wOBA versus the four-seam fastball, Cotton's most frequently thrown pitch and one he allows a .372 wOBA on.

George Springer, HOU vs. LAA ($5,100): Springer boasts a .417 wOBA, .266 ISO and 36.8 percent hard contact rate versus left-handed pitching, while Angels starter Tyler Skaggs has yielded a .343 wOBA to right-handed hitters on the road, and a 33.9 percent hard contact rate to that handedness overall. Furthermore, the .381 wOBA he allows when throwing his four-seam fastball lines up well with Springer's .433 wOBA versus the pitch. Angels relievers also have a 5.40 ERA and have allowed a .377 wOBA (including six homers) to righty bats on the road in September.
