Sunday's two-game MLB slate begins at 2:38 p.m. EDT and features both ALDS matchups. The players below should produce strong results relative to prices in their respective Game 3s, making them the day's top value plays.
PITCHER
Brad Peacock, HOU at BOS ($41): The Astros dominated with a pair of 8-2 victories in Houston and should find similar results despite the change of venue. Peacock can be had for $11 less than fellow favored pitcher Carlos Carrasco despite facing a weaker offense in a less hitter-friendly park. Recent history is also on his side, as Peacock allowed just two runs and five baserunners over five innings at Fenway Park in his last appearance of the regular season.
Masahiro Tanaka, NYY vs. CLE ($41): New York has gotten better results from its starting pitchers with each successive game this postseason and Tanaka's likely to continue that trend, as he has a 3.22 ERA at Yankee Stadium compared to 6.48 on the road. Cleveland's offense has also looked human in this series, as the Indians would have only four runs in each game if not for a blown call in Game 2 that turned what should've been an inning-ending strikeout into a bases-loading hit by pitch leading to a grand slam.
CATCHER
Brian McCann, HOU at BOS ($12): McCann will have the platoon advantage in addition to facing the least formidable starter in Boston righty Doug Fister. At just $12, those two favorable factors should be enough to earn McCann a roster spot. He also has a 1.167 OPS in very limited action facing Fister.
FIRST BASE
Mitch Moreland, BOS vs. HOU ($10): Moreland excelled at Fenway Park in the regular season, slashing .267/.353/.466 at home and just .226/.300/.420 on the road. He'll bat in the heart of the order against the right-handed Peacock, making Moreland Boston's best value.
SECOND BASE
Starlin Castro, NYY vs. CLE ($8): Castro has excelled at home this season, posting a .372 wOBA in the Bronx and .304 elsewhere. He's easily the cheapest starting second baseman at just $8, making Castro too good a value to pass up given his home/road splits.
THIRD BASE
Jose Ramirez, CLE at NYY ($25): The switch-hitting Ramirez has had a quiet series, but his .397 wOBA from the left side suggests he's easily capable of breaking out against Tanaka. Yankee Stadium's park factor was .05 higher than Progressive Field's in the regular season, so Ramirez has a slightly better chance of success at this venue. With 91 extra-base hits and 17 steals, Ramirez is capable of racking up fantasy points in a variety of ways.
SHORTSTOP
Didi Gregorius, NYY vs. CLE ($14): After setting a franchise shortstop record with 25 home runs in the regular season, Gregorius also launched one into the seats in New York's only home playoff game this year. The cleanup hitter's primed to replicate that result with the platoon advantage against Carrasco thanks to Yankee Stadium's 1.28 home run park factor. That mark was good for second in baseball behind Citizens Bank Park in the regular season.
OUTFIELD
Aaron Judge, NYY vs. CLE ($24): Judge is another slugger who went deep in New York's first home playoff game, which isn't surprising considering he hit 33 round-trippers at home in the regular season. His .440 wOBA against righties is .044 higher than his .396 mark against lefties, so Judge will have no qualms with facing Carrasco.
Josh Reddick, HOU at BOS ($15): Reddick will be thrilled to finally face a righty in Fister after dealing with southpaws Chris Sale and Drew Pomeranz in Games 1 and 2. The left-handed hitting slugger produced a .363 wOBA against right-handed pitching while smashing 46 of his 51 extra-base hits in that split this season.
Jay Bruce, CLE at NYY ($13): Bruce has been locked in at the plate with home runs in each of this series' first two games. It's amazing he's still priced at only $13 considering he will have the platoon advantage against Tanaka at such a homer-friendly venue. With more than 20 long balls in nine of his first 10 seasons, there's no doubting Bruce has the power to prolong his streak.
