Team LeBron Comebacks to Defeat Team Stephen, 148-145

By Joel Bartilotta

Team LeBron Defeated Team Stephen, 148-145, in the 67th NBA All-Star Game at Staples Center on Sunday. Despite the fact that Team Stephen led for over 40 minutes of this game, it wasn't decided until the final seconds. In fact, Team LeBron's largest lead was only four points, as they used a defensive stand on the last possession to comeback and win the game. Team LeBron took a one-point lead with 35 seconds left with a beautiful offensive possession and that was enough to hold on for the victory. The defense was surprisingly om display all night, as the 293 combined points was the lowest total in five years. In addition, Team LeBron shot 52 percent from the field and 33 percent from three-point range while Team Stephen finished 44 percent from the field and 26 percent from long range. The assist-to-turnover ratio was the decisive statistic, with Team LeBron recording five more assists than Team Stephen while committing three fewer turnovers. Scoring in the paint was also critical, with Team LeBron winning that battle, 42-32. LeBron James carried Team LeBron, as he led the team with 29 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists on his way to MVP honors. Kevin Durant accumulated 19 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals. Kyrie Irving totaled 13 points, seven rebounds and nine assists. Russell Westbrook went just 4-of-11 from the field but still finished with 11 points, eight rebounds and eight assists. Paul George led the bench with 16 points, five rebounds and four assists. Team Stephen had eight players score in double figures, as DeMar DeRozan led the team with 21 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals. Joel Embiid totaled 19 points, eight rebounds and two blocks. Giannis Antetokounmpo accrued 16 points, seven rebounds and two assists. James Harden tallied 12 points, seven rebounds and eight assists. Karl-Anthony Towns provided a 17-point, 10-rebound double-double off the bench, as Damian Lillard led the bench in scoring with 21 points.
