Cavaliers Dominate, Defeat Celtics

By Juan Pablo Aravena

The Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Boston Celtics, 116-86, at Quicken Loans Arena in Game of the Eastern Conference Finals on Saturday. The Cavaliers had their backs against the wall ahead of this game since they lost the first two games at TD Garden, and it was extremely clear they came out of this game with a sense of urgency, just like Tyronn Lue said prior to the game. The Cavaliers played with far more pace than in the past two games, and Boston did not have answers for them. The Cavs jumped to a huge 32-17 lead in the first quarter and they never looked back, to the point that they won every single quarter individually. A 29-24 win in the second quarter, a 26-22 advantage in the third, and a 29-23 close-it-out win in the fourth lifted Cleveland to an impressive win. And with this result, now Boston has a 2-1 lead in the Eastern Conference Finals. But the Cavs showed they won't go down without a fight. As it has been the trend durng the entire postseason run, once again LeBron James carried the Cavaliers to victory thanks to 27 points, 12 assists, five rebounds and two blocks. Kevin Love chipped in with a double-double of 13 points and 14 rebounds, and also added four assists. George Hill also added 13 points, and Tristan Thompson chipped in with 10 points and seven boards. Kyle Korver added 14 points off the bench. The Celtics didn't have an answer for Cleveland on either end of the court. Even though their offense didn't work very well, their biggest scoring weapon was Jayson Tatum who had 18 points. Terry Rozier added 13 points, and Jaylen Brown chipped in with 10 points. Greg Monroe looked effective off the bench with 10 points and five rebounds in 16 minutes.
