Williams finished the 2017-18 campaign with 8.5 points, 3.9 rebounds and 0.7 assists over 38 games played for the Iowa Wolves.
ANALYSIS
Williams first stint in the G League was during the 2013-14 season in which he averaged 20.5 points and 7.0 rebounds. Now 32 years old, it looks like his NBA days are over as his stat line in 2017-18 drastically decreased from his first season in the G League.

Williams will play his eighth season in the NBA as a new member of the Heat after he signed a fully-guaranteed contract in the offseason. Playing for the Lakers last season, he averaged 5.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 0.5 steals, 0.8 blocks, and 1.2 three-pointers in 21 minutes per game. It's important to remember that the Lakers threw out some desperate lineups last season while dealing with injuries, so Williams would be hard pressed to see that much playing time while with the Heat this season. His main obstacle from seeing the court will be the fact that multiple players are currently ahead of him on the depth chart at both small forward and power forward. Jumping the likes of Luol Deng, Danny Granger, Josh McRoberts, and Udonis Haslem don't seem plausible, leaving the 28-year-old on the outside looking in. On top of that, Williams only played 36 games last season and seriously lacks the consistency that the Heat will need this season after they regroup from the departure of LeBron James. Despite being a veteran, the former Memphis standout will ultimately have a limited role on the Heat this season.
Due to personal issues and an arrest on drug charges last December, Williams failed to play a game during the 2012-13 season. Despite Williams' rough history off the court, the Lakers added him to the roster in September. Williams has shown his ability to knock down three-pointers in the past, but he will have to battle Chris Kaman and others for minutes at forward. While Williams allows the Lakers to stretch the floor, he has never averaged more than 7.1 points and 3.7 rebounds in his career (2010-11 season).
Out of the league in 2009-10, Williams was signed off the scrap heap by Donnie Walsh and emerged as an important sub for the 2010-11 Knicks. This year he’ll join New York’s cross-river rival. He’s particularly dangerous hitting threes from the corner (40.1 shooting from three last season) and is a fairly capable defender at both forward spots. He could push second-year man Damion James for the starting spot at small forward or serve as a “stretch four” to replace Kris Humphries in the lineup.
Williams joined Dallas last season and appeared in 11 games before leaving the team for personal reasons. He isn't a lock to make the final roster and cannot be counted on.
Williams' repeated off-the-court incidents hide his development through the first two seasons of his NBA career. He's still pretty raw, but he improved across the board everywhere but in his shooting percentages. The Pacers have put him on double-secret probation for all the issues he's run into off the court, but they're far more likely to keep Williams than run him out of town as they are doing with Tinsley.
Williams, the Pacers' first-round pick last season, is still incredibly raw, but he also shoots the three and reportedly spent the summer working specifically on honing his shooting skills. With Granger, Marquis Daniels, Mike Dunleavy Jr. and Kareem Rush all around, playing time at either the small forward or shooting guard slots will be hard to come by. Watch his minutes later in the season - he might be worth a waiver wire pickup over the second half, but his breakout is more likely to happen next season.
The Pacers' first-round pick, Williams was definitely taken with an eye towards the future, after playing just one year at Memphis. He's another swingman on a team full of them, so look for him to spend a lot of nights as a "DNP-Coach Decision." Williams' offensive game is particularly raw - he needs to spend a couple of years working on his shot before he'll get much of a run in the NBA.
