Mickey signed a one-year contract with BC Khimki of Russia on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Mickey's first three years in the NBA were underwhelming to the point where the Heat decided not to exercise his option for the 2018-19 season. The one-year nature of his contract with Khimki will allow for a return stateside in short order, although there's no guarantee he'll be given another shot to play in the NBA again.

NBA Draft Kit: Atlantic Division Position Battles
August 26, 2016
The Sixers' frontcourt is very crowded, and with Jahlil Okafor and Ben Simmons expected to get plenty of playing time, what does that leave for Nerlens Noel?
Past Fantasy Outlooks
2016
2015
A second-round pick out of LSU last year, Mickey struggled to see the court as a rookie, logging only 57 total minutes across 16 games. He found success in the D-League, however, averaging a double-double (17.4 points, 10.3 rebounds) to go with 4.4 blocks and 1.3 assists in just over 33 minutes per game. While the level of competition in the D-League is obviously diluted, Mickey's numbers, particularly the high volume of blocks, still turned heads. Even so, the 22-year-old may again be glued to the bench for most of his second NBA season, as the Celtics remain deep in the frontcourt. Kelly Olynyk, Jonas Jerebko, Al Horford and Tyler Zeller are all firmly ahead of Mickey on the depth chart, and both Amir Johnson and rookie Jaylen Brown could also see time at power forward. As a result, Mickey could again spend considerable time in the D-League as Boston continues to handle him in more of a long-term developmental capacity.
The 33rd pick in the 2015 draft, Jordan Mickey made a name for himself during summer league play, starting all eight games for Boston, averaging 12.3 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks per contest. It's the two blocks per game that were particularly intriguing for Boston, a team desperate for improved rim protection. Clearly, the Celtics brass were impressed, giving Mickey a contract that is the richest deal for a secound-rounder in NBA history. The agreement is worth $5 million over four years, with the first two years guaranteed. Boston intends to find a role for Mickey, though that might be easier said than done. Despite his flashy summer play, Mickey is behind David Lee, Jared Sullinger, Amir Johnson, and Kelly Olynyk on the Celtics power forward depth chart. He'll be very hard pressed to match the 14.0 points and 8.8 rebounds per game that he averaged during his time at LSU.
