Yahoo DFS Basketball: Wednesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

The NBA has 11 games on the schedule Wednesday night, leaving you with a bevy of options to choose from for your Yahoo entry. Let's wade through the choices to see which ones can provide you with the most value.

GUARDS

Kemba Walker, CHA vs. CLE ($39): Walker is coming off one of his best games of the season as he scored 42.5 Yahoo points Friday against the Boston Celtics. Considering he did that against one of the better defenses in the league, he could really be in for a great performance against a bad Cavaliers defense that is allowing the fifth-most Yahoo points per game (46.9) to opposing point guards. He is very reasonably priced, so make sure you take advantage and get him in your lineup.

Kris Dunn, CHI at OKC ($15):Justin Holiday (personal) will not play Wednesday following the birth of his child, leaving a spot open in the starting lineup. Indications are that the Bulls will start Dunn alongside Jerian Grant, giving a boost to Dunn's value. Dunn has scored at least 26.6 Yahoo points in each of his last three games despite coming off the bench, so he could provide great numbers with extended minutes considering his cheap price.

Guard to Avoid

Jeremy Lamb, CHA vs. CLE ($23): This would have been a great matchup for Lamb against the porous Cavaliers defense, but Nicolas Batum (elbow) will be returning to play for the first time this season. Batum is expected to start, but will be on a minutes limit. Even if Batum plays limited minutes, he will likely cut into Lamb's playing time. It's best to avoid Lamb based on his new role.

FORWARDS

Derrick Favors, UTA at NY ($20): Favors has taken over as the starting center for the Jazz with Rudy Gobert (knee) out of action. Favors has played well in the role so far, averaging 16.5 points, 11.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in two starts. The Jazz are really going to need him Wednesday against a big Knicks front court, so expect his production to exceed his price point.

Bobby Portis, CHI at OKC ($16): Portis has been extremely productive since returning from suspension, posting a team-high 30.4% usage rate. Not only do the Bulls have few quality options up front, but the Thunder are also lacking talented big men. There is no reason to believe that Portis can't excel again Wednesday.

Forward to Avoid

Carmelo Anthony, OKC vs. CHI ($31): Anthony (back) did not play Sunday against the Dallas Mavericks and his status is still uncertain for Wednesday's contest. The Thunder crushed the Bulls by 32 points earlier this season, so it might be wise for them to rest Anthony to be safe. Even if he does play, he may only see limited minutes. Spend your money elsewhere.

CENTERS

Joel Embiid, PHI at LAL ($40): Embiid is rolling right now as he has scored at least 42.3 Yahoo points in five of his last six games. After playing less than 30 minutes in each of his first six games this season, he has played more than 30 minutes in three of his last five games. If he's healthy and playing extended minutes, he's going to produce. Brook Lopez isn't exactly a defensive powerhouse, so look for Embiid to thrive in this game.

Enes Kanter, NY vs. UTA ($21): With Gobert out for this game, Kanter no longer has to face one of the best defensive centers in the league. He has the third highest usage rate (21.5%) on the Knicks behind Kristaps Porzingis and Tim Hardaway Jr. and is averaging 30.2 Yahoo points per game. He has the potential to provide excellent value in this game.

Center to Avoid

Brook Lopez, LAL vs. PHI ($25): Lopez is in the midst of a slump as he has scored an average of 24.6 Yahoo points over his last four games. He gets a really tough defensive assignment in Embiid and could find himself in foul trouble early. Kanter is a much better option at a cheaper price, so keep Lopez out of your lineup.
