Yahoo DFS Basketball: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

Sunday's four-game NBA slate begins at 1:00 PM Eastern time. Despite the limited number of options, there's still value to be found for savvy fantasy owners. Below you'll find players to target, as well as some guys to avoid.

GUARD

Darren Collison, IND at PHO ($20): Collison comes in with plenty of momentum after piling up 34.4 fantasy points Friday against the Cavaliers for his fourth performance over 30.0 in the past 10 games. Phoenix allows the eighth-most fantasy points to point guards (42.3), so the affordable Collison will have another opportunity to rack up value. This game being in Phoenix reduces the chances of a blowout Pacers win, which is good for Collison's projected playing time.

Rajon Rondo, NO at NY ($21): Rondo's coming off his first single-digit fantasy point performance since Dec. 19, but he has a great opportunity to get back on track here. New York's point guard rotation consists of washed-up veteran Jarrett Jack and foul-prone rookie Frank Ntilikina, so it's no surprise the Knicks give up the fifth-most fantasy points to the position (43.8). This matchup is even more appealing for Rondo specifically, as he employs a pass-first approach on offense and gambles for steals on defense. New York allows the second-highest totals to point guards in both the assist and steal categories at 8.9 and 2.2, respectively.

GUARD TO AVOID

Jeff Teague, MIN vs. POR ($24): Despite Damian Lillard's personal shortcomings defensively, the Trailblazers have been surprisingly effective at limiting fantasy production at the point guard position. Portland's 35.4 fantasy points allowed per game are third-fewest, so it wouldn't be surprising to see Teague held below 25.0 for the eighth time in 14 games.

FORWARD

Tim Hardaway Jr., NY vs. NO ($27): Hardaway came off the bench in his return from a leg injury Friday, posting 27.6 fantasy points in 25 minutes. Even if he's not back in a starting role for this one, New York's top offensive wing should see his minutes ramp back up closer to his season average of 34. That increase in playing time should lead to improved fantasy production, especially at home against a Pelicans team that allows the third-most fantasy points to shooting guards (a position Hardaway plays for long stretches).

Bam Adebayo, MIA vs. MIL ($13): As is the case with most useful rookies, Adebayo's play has improved as the season has worn on. His 80.4 fantasy points over the past two games represent the most productive two-game stretch of the Kentucky product's career, as he took advantage of a bump in playing time with James Johnson unavailable. Johnson's return from suspension will almost certainly cut into Adebayo's production, but Adebayo should still provide strong value at $13 even with a substantial dip in playing time given his recent success.

FORWARD TO AVOID

Michael Beasley, NY vs. NO ($23): The man who calls himself "your favorite player's favorite player" provided fans with plenty of memorable moments as an offensive spark plug while Hardaway was sidelined, but he brings little to the table besides scoring, which isn't as much of a need now that the team's second-leading scorer is back from injury. Coach Jeff Hornacek confirmed Beasley's minutes would be cut upon Hardaway's return, and that was the case Friday as Beasley put up 20.7 fantasy points in just 16 minutes. Similar production can be expected moving forward, and that just doesn't cut it for a $23 player.

CENTER

Tyson Chandler, PHO vs. IND ($11): Chandler continues to be a massive bargain at just $1 above the minimum, as he's pulled down 11.1 boards per game in his past eight appearances en route to an average of 21.7 fantasy points per game that's exactly in line with his season mark. No team gives up more fantasy points to centers than the Pacers (45.7), so Chandler brings some nice upside here with almost zero risk to owners.

Jusuf Nurkic, POR at MIN ($26): Nurkic has been beasting over the past nine games, with an average of 36.3 fantasy points per contest. He'll have his hands full against Karl-Anthony Towns defensively, but the young stud is known to give back many of the points he scores on the other end. Nurkic's price will likely climb before long if he keeps producing like this, so grab him at this relatively affordable price while you still can.

CENTER TO AVOID

Greg Monroe, PHO vs. IND ($14): Monroe piles up numbers when given playing time, but that only happens when Chandler sits. The high-priced big man hasn't seen the floor since Jan. 3, so owners hoping for an offensive explosion in this favorable matchup are exceedingly likely to instead get stuck with a goose egg.
