Just a few things that caught my eye:
- So, the NHL is looking hard at staged fights, eh? How exactly did Ryan Getzlaf and Joe Thornton arrange their little dance just two seconds into the game if there wasn't premeditation? Next year, that's a 10-minute misconduct. This year, it's just different rules for skill players.
- Mikka Kiprusoff has started 299 of the Flames' last 328 regular-season games. Any wonder why they've gone one and out in the playoffs for so many years?
- Checking regular-season lots, Ryan Getzlaf has just one more fight (3) than Joe Thornton (2) this season. Either Getzlaf had me fooled or Joe is tougher than I thought. Nah, he's still a 6-4, 235lb pacifist. He used to fight but that was in a former life.
- Adrian Aucoin and Jordan Leopold are not -- I repeat -- NOT a top pairing on a top playoff team. They might not even be a second pairing.
- Milan Michalek = overrated. Nice of him to finally show up.
- Ten minor penalties and two majors in one period -- that's serious physical abuse. Looks like the Sharks and Ducks both came to play.
- Six games? Wouldn't a better punishment be to force Donald Brashear to play 15 minutes a game instead? This suspension doesn't hurt the Caps, it helps! Now they're forced to play someone who can skate, shoot and maybe score. Go figure.
