Walker suffered a twisted left ankle during Thursday's victory over Florida A&M, but should be ready to go for Wednesday's contest against La Salle.

The freshman is averaging 7.7 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists during Miami's first three games of the season, and is expected to play a huge role for the team this year. This bit of news comes as a sigh of relief, since it appears as though there was no structural damage or even any swelling to the ankle.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Walker will be "close to 100 percent" in advance of the team's season opener against Gardner-Webb on Nov. 10, The Palm Beach Post reports.

Walker was granted full clearance last week, but the missed practice time means he is not in game shape just yet. An earlier post from Matt Porter of the Palm Beach Post shows that Walker is alright in short bursts, so it looks like only a matter of conditioning before the five-star freshman is game ready. Despite incumbents Ja'Quan Newton and Bruce Brown expected to take on a heavy role in the Canes backcourt, a healthy walker should see a meaningful minutes workload out of the gates, and could even work his way into the starting lineup.

Head coach Jim Larranaga said Walker (knee) has been fully cleared to play, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.

Walker, who has been participating in warm up drills recently, is set to return to game play for the first time since suffering a torn meniscus back in July. The highly-regarded freshman is still hoping to be ready for the season opener in November, though he may be forced to settle for a bench role to open the season given his limited amount of practice time.

Walker (knee) was cleared for warm up drills, but has not been cleared for game play, CBS Sports reports.

Walker is a 6-4 guard who is expected to start next to Ja'Quan Newton and Bruce Brown, but Walker suffered a meniscus injury in July. He is making steady progress and could be ready for the season in November. Expect coach Jim Larranaga to take his time bringing the McDonald's All-American back in the fold.

Miami coach Jim Larranaga said Monday that Walker (knee) has yet to receive full clearance for practices and will likely be sidelined for several more weeks, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.

Regarded as one of the top backcourt players in the 2017 recruiting class, Walker was expected to fill a vital role for the Hurricanes right out of the gate, but a slow recovery from a torn meniscus suffered back in July puts his status in question for the start of the season. Walker still has about two months to heal up before the college basketball season begins, but limited practice time could result in him settling for a bench gig to begin his freshman campaign.

According to coach Jim Larranaga, Walker (knee) is anticipated to be ready to play in Miami's season opener against Gardner Webb, Michelle Kaufman of the Miami Herald reports.

Walker had surgery last Friday to repair a torn right meniscus, but he's expected to use the next four months to recover in time to start his college career as scheduled. One of the nation's premier incoming players, Walker is a potential one-and-done talent who's slated to fill a significant role in Miami's backcourt this season.

Walker tore the meniscus in his right knee Tuesday and will undergo surgery later this week, Tim Reynolds of The Associated Press reports.

Walker is a highly-touted incoming freshman guard for the Hurricanes and has been projected as likely first-round pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. A timeline for his eventual return will be determined following his surgery.
