Shows accuracy in Holiday Bowl
January 2, 2019
Thorson completed 21 of 30 attempts for 241 yards, two touchdowns and an interception Monday in Northwestern's 31-20 win over Utah in the Holiday Bowl.
ANALYSIS
Thorson couldn't escape the final contest of his college career with a clean outing, as his interception brought his total up to 18 (15 picks, three lost fumbles) over his 14 games. On a brighter note, Thorson at least demonstrated improved accuracy down the stretch, completing 67 percent of his 112 attempts over the final four games, three of which came against teams with winning records. He'll now turn his attention to the 2019 NFL Draft while the Wildcats look to break in a new starter under center during the upcoming campaign. Clemson transfer Hunter Johnson should be one of the leading candidates for those duties.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2018
2015
Thorson appeared poised to enter his name into the 2018 NFL Draft pool, but a devastating ACL tear during Northwestern's bowl game killed any chance of that. He's made significant progress in his rehab from the injury and Week 1 remains on the table if he continues to avoid setbacks. Thorson won't light up defenses with his wheels, but he owns an NFL-caliber arm -- completing a career-best 60.4 percent of his passes in 2018 -- and returns the top two pass-catching options from a season ago in Bennett Skowronek and Flynn Nagel. If all goes as planned, Thorson should be set up well for a solid final campaign in Evanston, but he'll no longer have four-year starter Justin Jackson to look to out of the backfield.
Thorson may be the leading candidate to start at quarterback for Northwestern this season, but will be in a job battle with Zack Oliver and Matt Alviti. He offers mobility and a decent pedigree as a first-team all-state QB by the Chicago Tribune in 2013 out of Wheaton North High School.
