Puts in limited practice Tuesday
December 26, 2017
Gray (groin) was dressed out for practice Tuesday but appeared to be limited, Will Sammon of The Clarion Ledger reports.
ANALYSIS
The expectation has been that Gray would not play again this season, but his presence at practice Tuesday suggests he could be available for Saturday's bowl game against Louisville. However, Sammon notes that Gray was not seen running routes during the media viewing period. It still seems unlikely that Gray will play meaningful snaps Saturday, but there appears to be a chance he'll be available. His status should come into greater focus as the week progresses.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2017
2016
Gray is the leading returning receiver for the Bulldogs after the graduation of Fred Ross. Gray has been a big-play threat throughout his time with Mississippi State, and he averaged a stout 17.3 yards per catch as a junior in 2016. Gray does not have the size of the aforementioned Ross, but Gray still managed to find the end zone five times last season. The Bulldogs will run the ball plenty with dual-threat quarterback Nick Fitzgerald and running back Aeris Williams, though Gray is the undisputed No. 1 target at wide receiver heading into the 2017 campaign.
Gray had a tough path to targets last year as a JUCO transfer playing behind the likes of Fred Ross, De’Runnya Wilson, and Fred Brown, but he should be ready to jump into a starting role in 2016 now that Wilson and Brown are no longer on the team. Gray is the second-leading returning receiver from a season ago after nabbing 21 of 30 targets (70%) for 386 yards (18.4 YPR). There should be some brake-pumping on him, however, as he’ll need to show he can produce against SEC West competition (nearly 50% of his yards and both his touchdowns came against Northwestern State and Troy). Still, if he can deliver on his potential and nab a starting role, he should be in line for a healthy number of targets as the Bulldogs’ No. 2 receiver and with Fred Ross drawing most of the attention from opposing secondaries he could be getting some great looks on those targets.
