Slated to enter NFL draft
January 8, 2020
McDonald announced that he is entering the 2020 NFL Draft.
ANALYSIS
McDonald will test his draft prospects after three seasons at Hawaii. He put up career-best numbers in most counting categories this past season, completing 326-of-511 attempts for 4135 yards, 33 touchdowns and 14 interceptions while rushing 101 times for an additional 383 yards and seven touchdowns. McDonald, who carries a big frame and strong arm, has struggled with his accuracy in the past as he has a bit of a lethargic throwing motion. He'll look to clean up his mechanical concerns and impress scouts at the NFL combine and his Pro Day later this Spring.

2019 Fantasy Outlook
McDonald’s splits between the first and second halves of 2018 are stark; through the first six games, he was third in fantasy points per game (39.3) on the strength of 24 touchdowns and 2,100 yards in six games. An injury kept him out against Wyoming and he wasn’t the same thereafter, averaging just 25.8 FPPG and throwing just 11 scores. The difference in splits make Is fair to wonder whether his decline was injury related or whether his hot start was attributable to a weak schedule. McDonald is a polarizing entity with legitimate arguments for and against him as a top-20 quarterback.
