Mansell confirmed Jan. 9 that he would join transfer to FCS Abilene Christian ahead of the 2020 season, Sean Bock of 247Sports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Since he's leaving Iowa and dropping down to the FCS ranks, Mansell will be able to compete right away for Abilene Christian while retaining two years of eligibility. During his three-year career at Iowa, Mansell completed five of eight attempts for 83 yards and an interception while adding eight carries for 31 yards and a touchdown. With Mansell leaving Iowa and incumbent starter Nate Stanley graduating, Spencer Petras is the leading candidate to emerge as the Hawkeyes' top quarterback in 2020.
