South Carolina head coach Will Muschamp said Tuesday that Urich will leave the football team after recently suffering a shoulder injury that will require surgery, Josh Kendall of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Urich would have had the option of finishing out his final two years of eligibility beginning in 2021, but the quarterback is on track to graduate this winter and ultimately decided that he was best off ending his playing career. According to the report, Urich will rejoin the football in a coaching role next spring, serving as a graduate assistant in player development alongside another former Gamecocks quarterback in Connor Shaw.
