After missing all of his rookie season due to a dislocated wrist, Logan saw his first NFL action a year ago for the Cardinals. He did not see a snap on offense until Week 8, though, and was on the field for just 21 offensive snaps all season long with David Johnson playing in all 16 contests. Logan brings elite speed to the table, but he lacks in size (5-10, 196) and pedigree (fifth-round pick in 2017), so it's a near certainty he will remain in a depth role. He did average a healthy 24.7 yards on 12 kick returns a year ago, so he could make his most impact in that department if he earns the job.
While David Johnson's season-ending wrist injury in Week 1 cast a shadow over the entire Cardinals offense last year, Johnson wasn't the only player to miss significant time. A 2017 fifth-round pick, Logan looked dynamic as a return man last preseason before dislocating his wrist and spending the entire year on injured reserve. No one else on the Arizona depth chart showed much while Johnson was out, so Logan heads into 2018 with another chance to carve out a role for himself. He doesn't have the size or strength to handle lead-back duties or do much damage between the tackles, but the North Carolina product ran an elite 4.37 40-yard dash at the Combine after showing strong receiving skills in college, potentially making him a dangerous third-down back if Johnson were to miss time. Logan also figures to compete for a role as the team's top kick returner.
The Cardinals employ one of the few workhorse running backs in David Johnson, but that reality didn't stop general manager Steve Keim from tabbing Logan in the fifth round of the 2017 draft. Logan arrives in Arizona with a collegiate mark of 5.4 YPC, no more than 120 carries in a single season, and a 4.37 40-yard dash from the Combine. The latter point helped him average 27.2 yards per kick return and score five touchdowns in the role at UNC, making him the favorite to help turn around one of the NFL's most dreadful return units. However, offensive touches will be more difficult to come by with Johnson and Kerwynn Williams in front of Logan on the RB depth chart.
