Affectionally known as Snacks, Harrison's nickname undersells the threat he poses to offenses. The 6-3, 355-pound giant is immovable and rangy, drawing heavy blocking attention but piling up tackles at an absurd pace anyway. While Harrison's burdensome tasks have limited his yearly snap counts to less than 700, he burns hot on the snaps he does play, producing about an 80-tackle average the last three years. There is the issue of a summer contract holdout, but it's only a matter of time before the Lions pay up.
Harrison is just a beast. He posts absurdly high tackle totals despite playing limited snaps and dealing with double teams constantly, and he's been remarkably consistent the last three years. Despite playing an average of just 629 snaps per season, Harrison managed to average 78 tackles per year in that stretch. He's unlikely to chip in more than a sack or two, and the strain of dealing with so many double-teams means his play count is unlikely to rise, but Harrison has already made it clear that he doesn't need many snaps to surpass 70 tackles.
Harrison is a novel player because he's a huge nose tackle at 6-4, 350, yet he has an uncanny ability to pile up tackles. Double teams evidently don't slow him, as he preceded last year's 86-tackle debut with the Giants with a 72-tackle showing for the Jets the year before. What's especially remarkable is that Harrison posted those 158 tackles while playing just 1,242 snaps -- that rate of production projects to about 95 tackles on 750 snaps. Given that he nearly hit 90 tackles on just 674 snaps last year, Harrison has a high floor despite his minimal pass-rushing production.
Run clogging interior lineman, part of a formidable front with Johnathan Hankins, Jason Pierre-Paul and Oliver Vernon.
The 26-year-old is expected to start at nose tackle for the Jets in 2015. He finished the 2014 season with 55 tackles in 16 games.
Harrison will likely serve as the backup nose tackle.
