Weekly Rankings: Week 2 Value Meter

This article is part of our Weekly Rankings series.

***Final Update Complete - Check Our Latest News Page for any late-breaking news, especially for the late games.***

Here are our rankings for the coming week at each position to help you decide your starting lineup. Our rankings are based on the following scoring system: three points for a passing touchdown; six points for a rushing/receiving touchdown; one point for every 20 passing yards; and one point for every 10 rushing/receiving yards. Flex Rankings are for PPR leagues.

Typically, this article will be posted on Tuesday evenings, roughly around 8:00 pm PT. However, for Week 1 they are up extra early, even with one more preseason game to go. ***These are not draft rankings. They are solely for the given week of the season.***

I will update these during the week, usually twice per week to account for injury or other news during practice. The timing of those updates will vary based on the news at hand and my schedule for the given week. But the first of those updates usually won't happen until Thursday. At any rate, I will post a "last updated" note at the top of the article, or an "update in progress" note if it's while I'm doing it.

By all means, if you want to discuss a rank, or want me to add a player, chime in on the comments. I try to be receptive to your feedback and try to respond to most comments, though on occasion the volume can be quite

Quarterback

1.Peyton Manning DEN vs. KC
2.Aaron Rodgers GB vs. NYJ
3.Andrew Luck IND vs. Phi
4.Nick Foles PHI at Ind
Note: Horrible first half, but still ended up with 322 yards and two touchdowns.
5.Drew Brees NO at Cle
Note: Tiny downgrade due to Brees' track record outdoors and on the road.
6.Matt Ryan ATL at Cin
7.Colin Kaepernick SF vs. Chi
8.Andy Dalton CIN vs. Atl
Note: Love the home matchup against Atlanta this week.
9.Tony Romo DAL at Ten
Note: Threw three killer first half interceptions. The second half was better, but a case of too little, too late after the Cowboys dug such a huge hole. (Back) Full practice Wednesday. ***Listed as probable.***
10.Tom Brady NE at Min
Note: Averaged just 4.4 yards per attempt in the loss to the Dolphins and got worse as the game went on.
11.Russell Wilson SEA at SD
12.Matthew Stafford DET at Car
Note: Monster opening week with the rushing touchdown, but Week 2 will be much tougher at Carolina.
13.Jake Locker TEN vs. Dal
14.Jay Cutler CHI at SF
15.Ben Roethlisberger PIT at Bal
16.*Cam Newton CAR vs. Det
Note: (Ribs) Sat out the season opener, but he's expected to practice Wednesday and play this week against the Lions. Full participant Wednesday and is a full-go for this week. I'm bumping him up in the rankings accordingly. ***Listed as probable on the final injury report, and coach Ron Rivera said that there was 'no doubt' that Newton would start.***
17.Robert Griffin WAS vs. Jax
Note: Was under constant pressure against the Texans.
18.Alex Smith KC at Den
19.Matt Cassel MIN vs. NE
20.Brian Hoyer CLE vs. NO
21.Joe Flacco BAL vs. Pit
Note: Threw it a whopping 62 times in the loss to the Bengals - ugly early, better late.
22.Ryan Tannehill MIA at Buf
23.Ryan Fitzpatrick HOU at Oak
24.Philip Rivers SD vs. Sea
Note: Tough start to the season, drawing Arizona and then Seattle.
25.Geno Smith NYJ at GB
Note: Fairly efficient season debut, at least in terms of completion percentage, but also turned the ball over twice, once in the air and once on the ground.
26.Josh McCown TB vs. StL
Note: While we can account for his opponent, McCown was awful for three quarters in Week 1, with two of the worst interceptions you'll see.
27.Eli Manning NYG vs. Ari
Note: Followed an awful preseason with an awful Week 1. It doesn't get much easier this week against Arizona.
28.Chad Henne JAC at Was
Note: Most of Henne's production came in the first half when they built a 17-0 lead - did very little in the second half.
29.EJ Manuel BUF vs. Mia
30.*Austin Davis STL at TB
Note: Would start if Shaun Hill can't go. ***Still the likely starter - Shaun Hill barely practiced all week.***
31.Derek Carr OAK vs. Hou
Note: Didn't turn the ball over, but also averaged just 4.7 yards per attempt against the Jets.
32.*Drew Stanton ARZ at NYG
Note: ***Starting in place of Palmer this week.***
33.*Derek Anderson CAR vs. Det
Note: Newton is expected back this week.
34.*Shaun Hill STL at TB
Note: Suffered a strained quad early in the loss to the Vikings and is iffy for Week 2. Unable to practice Wednesday - could be inactive this week, with Case Keenum backing up Austin Davis.
35.*Carson Palmer ARZ at NYG
Note: (Shoulder) Limited for both Wednesday and Thursday's practices. *** INACTIVE THIS WEEK. ***

Running Backs

1.LeSean McCoy PHI at Ind
Note: Had 21 carries to 11 for Sproles, and six receptions to four for Sproles.
2.Matt Forte CHI at SF
3.Alfred Morris WAS vs. Jax
4.Marshawn Lynch SEA at SD
5.Jamaal Charles KC at Den
Note: Somehow got just seven carries against the Titans. Charles still remains in my top 10 because of his pedigree and the lack of other good alternatives on the team. I'm concerned about his offensive line getting pushed around however. Getting Bowe back might help him though, as it makes the threat of a play-action deep ball a lot more realistic.
6.Montee Ball DEN vs. KC
7.DeMarco Murray DAL at Ten
Note: An early fumble was a killer, but he was huge the rest of the game.
8.Giovani Bernard CIN vs. Atl
9.*Arian Foster HOU at Oak
Note: Full participant at Wednesday's practice but then was listed on the initial injury report with a rib injury. Of greater import to me was how much he dominated the workload for the Texans despite averaging just 3.8 yards per carry, well below his career norm. With the coaching change I thought it was plausible that Foster might have to share the load more this year, but at least after one game that doesn't appear to be the case. *** Listed as probable on the injury report. It's possible that the rib injury prompts the Texans to spread the workload around a little bit more than they did last week.***
10.Frank Gore SF vs. Chi
11.Knowshon Moreno MIA at Buf
Note: Ran like a boss, as if it were still 2013. Miami's system fits him perfectly. (Shoulder) Limited practice participant on Wednesday and Thursday. Friday's practice could be revealing about his status. ***Listed as probable for Week 2.***
12.Le'Veon Bell PIT at Bal
13.Shane Vereen NE at Min
Note: On the field more than Ridley in Week 1 by nearly a 3:1 ratio, and got a goal line carry that he converted.
14.*Eddie Lacy GB vs. NYJ
Note: Suffered a concussion in the season-opener against the Seahawks. Full practice Thursday and is close to emerging from the concussion protocol. He doesn't get a top-10 ranking this week, however, both because of the concussion concerns and because of the matchup against the Jets. ***Listed as probable.***
15.Chris Johnson NYJ at GB
16.Terrance West CLE vs. NO
Note: Looked great after a terrible a preseason. West will start Sunday with Ben Tate out and share carries with Crowell.
17.Ryan Mathews SD vs. Sea
18.*Reggie Bush DET at Car
Note: (Knee) Limited in practice on Wednesday, but then was a full participant in practice Thursday. ***Listed as probable.***
19.Shonn Greene TEN vs. Dal
20.Pierre Thomas NO at Cle
Note: Took just 34 of the Saints 75 snaps - the most among Saints running backs, but still fewer than half overall.
21.Steven Jackson ATL at Cin
22.Zac Stacy STL at TB
Note: Had just 11 carries after the Rams fell behind the Vikings.
23.Rashad Jennings NYG vs. Ari
24.Carlos Hyde SF vs. Chi
Note: Positioned solidified with the Niners releasing LaMichael James.
25.*Toby Gerhart JAC at Was
Note: Suffered an ankle injury in the loss to Philly but returned later. But often in those situations it's what happens overnight that dictates how bad the injury is. Limited practice Thursday. As athletes often are with injuries, Gerhart was optimistic that he would be able to play Sunday against the Redskins. If a player is ever skeptical about his ability to play, that's your sign to be extremely cautious. ***Full practice Friday, listed as probable - I'm bumping him up accordingly.***
26.Mark Ingram NO at Cle
Note: Made the most of his 20 snaps, running 13 times for 60 yards and two touchdowns.
27.*Justin Forsett BAL vs. Pit
Note: Took over for Pierce after Pierce fumbled and ran for 70 yards on 11 carries. The Ravens haven't announced a starter for Week 2 or beyond yet, but you can be sure Forsett will play a pretty big role.
28.Fred Jackson BUF vs. Mia
29.Darren Sproles PHI at Ind
30.Joique Bell DET at Car
31.C.J. Spiller BUF vs. Mia
32.Chris Ivory NYJ at GB
33.*Matt Asiata MIN vs. NE
Note: ***Presumably will get the start Sunday with Adrian Peterson deactivated, but he and McKinnon have distinctly different skill sets. Asiata has demonstrated some aptitude in the NFL at the goal line, but has a super-slow (by NFL standards, not human standards) 40-time. McKinnon is a much quicker back. Their respective strengths might fold in together well.
34.*Jonathan Stewart CAR vs. Det
Note: *** I moved him up a couple of slots with DeAngelo Williams unlikely to play. However, Mike Tolbert could steal some of those carries, even at the goal line.***
35.*Doug Martin TB vs. StL
Note: Had just nine yards on nine carries and suffered a left leg injury in the loss to Carolina. Had a limited practice Thursday to preserve his left knee. Even if he starts Sunday, I think that the Bucs will have him share carries more with Bobby Rainey. ***Practiced Thursday and Friday. Though he's listed as questionable, Martin is expected to play barring a setback in pregame warmups.***
36.*Andre Ellington ARZ at NYG
Note: (Foot) Was able to play after all Monday night, netting 53 yards on the ground and 27 more through the air. Still, he's wearing a walking boot this week to get his left foot 'calmed down'. Held out of the media portion of practice Thursday. Fortunately the Cardinals play the early game Sunday so any possible game-time decision issues should get resolved quickly. I get the notion that he's going to miss a game at some point, however, as it seems unlikely that the walking boot and no practice routine can last all season. ***Officially listed as questionable but said after Friday's practice that he's good to go.***
37.*Darren McFadden OAK vs. Hou
Note: MJD had a 'hand procedure' and has missed practice Wednesday and Thursday. The Raiders haven't yet been forthcoming about the severity and full nature of the injury, but McFadden is in line to start if MJD can't go. ***Bumped McFadden up with MJD not practicing all week.***
38.Trent Richardson IND vs. Phi
39.*Lamar Miller MIA at Buf
Note: Ran well at times, but lost a fumble and had leg cramps late.
40.Jacquizz Rodgers ATL at Cin
Note: Saw more work than Freeman, but less than Jackson.
41.*Isaiah Crowell CLE vs. NO
Note: Looked great as the third running back after Tate got hurt. Crowell was a heavily-recruited running back coming out of high school, perhaps one of the top three in his class. His physical skills have remained intact, suggesting that the Browns may have gotten a bargain on him as an undrafted free agent due to his character issues that got him kicked off the team at Georgia. I'm grabbing him as a flyer where I can, again with the caveat that in leagues where you have short benches it's a lot harder to put him on your roster.
42.James Starks GB vs. NYJ
43.Danny Woodhead SD vs. Sea
44.*Jerick McKinnon MIN vs. NE
Note: McKinnon is faster than Asiata, but obviously doesn't have as much experience and seems less likely to get goal line carries. He split time between quarterback and tailback at Georgia Southern, so he probably doesn't have that much experience pass-blocking, which could limit his time on the field on third down.
45.Stevan Ridley NE at Min
46.*Bishop Sankey TEN vs. Dal
Note: Didn't have a carry in the first half and had just six carries on the day, three fewer than Dexter McCluster.
47.*Jeremy Hill CIN vs. Atl
Note: On the field for only 10 snaps in Week 1, but OC Hue Jackson has pledged to get Hill more work.
48.*Bernard Pierce BAL vs. Pit
Note: Buried after losing a fumble against the Bengals, did very little before that. Ravens coach John Harbaugh hasn't named a starter for Thursday yet.
49.Ahmad Bradshaw IND vs. Phi
Note: Bradshaw was more effective than Richardson on Sunday night, but the type of game was also more conducive to his style. Had a non-contact jersey on at practice Thursday, but keep in mind that the Colts play on Monday, so Thursday was their first practice of the week. We might not know until Saturday if this is something to be concerned about. *** Full practices both Friday and Saturday.***
50.Bobby Rainey TB vs. StL
51.LeGarrette Blount PIT at Bal
52.Stepfan Taylor ARZ at NYG
Note: On one hand, Taylor had just six offensive snaps. On the other hand, he was in the game late when the Cardinals were mounting a comeback and notched the key score. With Ellington having to wear a walking boot this week, we have to at least pay attention to the Cardinals' usage patterns this week. I prefer Crowell/Rainey/Taliaferro/Forsett to him, but in leagues with 14 or 16 teams, Taylor might need to be added now.
53.Robert Turbin SEA at SD
54.Andre Williams NYG vs. Ari
55.Khiry Robinson NO at Cle
Note: Had just 12 snaps, but converted a short touchdown.
56.Jonathan Dwyer ARZ at NYG
57.Roy Helu WAS vs. Jax
58.Benny Cunningham STL at TB
59.Jordan Todman JAC at Was
60.*Mike Tolbert CAR vs. Det
Note: Could get more action with DeAngelo Williams unlikely to play.
61.*Lorenzo Taliaferro BAL vs. Pit
Note: Was on the field for just three plays in Week 1, but should play more this week.
62.Devonta Freeman ATL at Cin
63.Donald Brown SD vs. Sea
64.Ronnie Hillman DEN vs. KC
65.*Latavius Murray OAK vs. Hou
Note: Didn't have a carry last week but had three decent kick returns. If MJD can't go, Murray will be the backup and could have some upside - if you have room on your bench to stash a guy (and yeah, I know that's a loaded statement - let's stipulate 6 or more bench spots), I'd consider grabbing him now before he becomes expensive next week.
66.Knile Davis KC at Den
Note: On the field for just five snaps in Week 1.
67.*Denard Robinson JAC at Was
Note: If Gerhart has a setback, Robinson and Jordan Todman could share carries.
68.Jonathan Grimes HOU at Oak
Note: On the field for just eight snaps, while Alfred Blue just had two snaps.
69.Ka'Deem Carey CHI at SF
70.Mike James TB vs. StL
71.Dexter McCluster TEN vs. Dal
72.Marcel Reece OAK vs. Hou
73.C.J. Anderson DEN vs. KC
74.Anthony Dixon BUF vs. Mia
75.DeAngelo Williams CAR vs. Det
Note: More work and production than Stewart last week. Didn't practice Thursday due to a sore thigh. ***Also did not practice Friday and now isn't expected to play.***
76.*Maurice Jones-Drew OAK vs. Hou
Note: Had a procedure done on his hand and missed practice both Wednesday and Thursday. Raiders head coach Dennis Allen was especially evasive when asked if MJD broke his hand - my read on that is to expect the worst. If he can't go, Darren McFadden would start and Latavius Murray would be the backup. ***Didn't practice all week and his hand is still swollen. The Raiders won't yet rule him out, but I doubt that he plays.***
77.*Christine Michael SEA at SD
Note: (Hamstring) Limited practice Thursday after sitting out Wednesday. ***Ruled out again this week.***
78.*Dri Archer PIT at Bal
Note: Injured his ankle and is questionable for Thursday night. Officially ruled out for Thursday night.
79.Adrian Peterson MIN vs. NE
Note: ***Indicted on child abuse charges, reported to authorities on Friday night , was jailed and released on bond. The Vikings have deactivated him for this week and are waiting out the legal process now.***
80.*Ben Tate CLE vs. NO
Note: Injured his knee in the loss to Pittsburgh, no update yet. Officially out this week, will 'miss some time' according to coach Mike Pettine.' Could miss Week 3 as well, a scenario that is more likely thanks to the Browns having their bye in Week 4.

Wide Receivers

1.Calvin Johnson DET at Car
2.*Dez Bryant DAL at Ten
Note: Dealt with dehydration and a left arm injury in the loss to the Niners.
3.Demaryius Thomas DEN vs. KC
Note: Three drops in Week 1 gave Thomas a pretty mediocre night. While they've been a problem before, don't look for this to change his role or even his value going forward.
4.*A.J. Green CIN vs. Atl
Note: (Foot) Limited on Wednesday and did not suit up for practice Thursday. ***Returned to practice Friday.***
5.Julio Jones ATL at Cin
6.Jordy Nelson GB vs. NYJ
7.Antonio Brown PIT at Bal
8.Randall Cobb GB vs. NYJ
9.Jeremy Maclin PHI at Ind
10.Vincent Jackson TB vs. StL
11.Cordarrelle Patterson MIN vs. NE
12.Marques Colston NO at Cle
13.Emmanuel Sanders DEN vs. KC
14.Percy Harvin SEA at SD
15.Michael Floyd ARZ at NYG
16.*Roddy White ATL at Cin
Note: (Knee) White was limited both on Wednesday and Thursday, and while this doesn't rise to the level of last year's injuries, I am concerned a little bit. I'm moving him down below Floyd as a result of this and his matchup. ***Listed as probable.***
17.T.Y. Hilton IND vs. Phi
18.Kendall Wright TEN vs. Dal
19.DeSean Jackson WAS vs. Jax
20.*Andre Johnson HOU at Oak
Note: (Ankle) Limited practice Thursday.
21.Pierre Garcon WAS vs. Jax
22.Torrey Smith BAL vs. Pit
23.Eric Decker NYJ at GB
24.Victor Cruz NYG vs. Ari
25.Mike Evans TB vs. StL
26.Brandin Cooks NO at Cle
Note: So much for the notion that Cooks was behind Nick Toon on the depth chart - even with Kenny Stills out with an injury, Toon was inactive and Cooks caught seven passes in Week 1.
27.*Mike Wallace MIA at Buf
Note: (Hamstring) Listed as a limited participant in Thursday's practice. ***Listed as probable.***
28.Julian Edelman NE at Min
29.Reggie Wayne IND vs. Phi
30.Golden Tate DET at Car
Note: Six catches on six targets Monday night for 93 yards.
31.Marqise Lee JAC at Was
Note: I'd still go with Lee over Hurns - Lee had 10 targets against the Eagles. (Hamstring) Had a limited practice Wednesday but a full practice on Thursday. With Shorts still sidelined Thursday, I think that both Lee and Hurns are worthy of consideration. ***Full practice all week, listed as probable.***
32.Kelvin Benjamin CAR vs. Det
33.Keenan Allen SD vs. Sea
34.Michael Crabtree SF vs. Chi
35.Larry Fitzgerald ARZ at NYG
Note: First target came in the second half, and he had just one catch Monday night.
36.*Dwayne Bowe KC at Den
Note: Reinstated by the NFL after a one-week ban.
37.*Terrance Williams DAL at Ten
Note: (Back) Full practice Wednesday. ***Listed as probable.***
38.DeAndre Hopkins HOU at Oak
39.Markus Wheaton PIT at Bal
Note: Had two of his seven catches on the final drive to put the Steelers ahead in Week 1.
40.Rueben Randle NYG vs. Ari
Note: Just three targets in Week 1 even with the Giants trailing the entire game.
41.Greg Jennings MIN vs. NE
Note: Patterson had the big day because of his big runs, but Jennings is a big part of this offense too.
42.Anquan Boldin SF vs. Chi
Note: Had nine targets in the opener against Dallas.
43.Andrew Hawkins CLE vs. NO
44.*Allen Hurns JAC at Was
Note: Four catches on nine targets for 110 yards and two touchdowns - not a bad debut at all.
45.*Sammy Watkins BUF vs. Mia
Note: Still fighting through the rib injury, but was able to practice Wednesday.
46.*Brandon Marshall CHI at SF
Note: Had to have his ankle wrapped twice but stayed in the game both times. (Ankle) Missed practice Thursday, but coach Marc Trestman indicated that Marshall would still likely play. Friday's practice for both he and Alshon Jeffery could be illuminating. ***This situation has gotten more complicated. Marshall did not practice Friday and is listed as questionable and a game-time decision. Alas, that game time is Sunday night. If you have a reasonable replacement (say, top 40 or so), I'd go with him rather than Marshall, especially if that replacement plays before Marshall.***
47.*Alshon Jeffery CHI at SF
Note: (Hamstring) Missed the fourth quarter and the overtime quarter, but 'was prepared to go at specific times,' whatever that means. Watch the practice reports carefully. Didn't practice Wednesday and Thursday. Because he missed the end of last week's game, I'm more concerned about Jeffery than I am about Marshall. ***Limited practice Friday, still listed as questionable, as is Marshall. The Bears play Sunday night, further complicating the matter if your potential replacement for either Jeffery or Marshall plays earlier. ***
48.Riley Cooper PHI at Ind
Note: Seven targets in Week 1, but all low-yardage receptions.
49.*Justin Hunter TEN vs. Dal
Note: (Knee) Limited at Wednesday's practice. ***Full practice Friday, listed as probable.***
50.*Santonio Holmes CHI at SF
Note: ***Could be asked to play a pretty big role if both Marshall and Jeffery are forced to sit out.***
51.*Mohamed Sanu CIN vs. Atl
Note: Could get even more targets with Eifert out eight to 10 weeks.
52.Malcom Floyd SD vs. Sea
Note: Followed up a great camp with a good opening night.
53.Donnie Avery KC at Den
54.Brian Quick STL at TB
55.Rod Streater OAK vs. Hou
56.*Kenny Stills NO at Cle
Note: (Quad) Limited practice Wednesday. ***Listed as probable after a full practice Friday.***
57.Brian Hartline MIA at Buf
58.Hakeem Nicks IND vs. Phi
Note: Already has more touchdowns than last year.
59.Doug Baldwin SEA at SD
60.Jarrett Boykin GB vs. NYJ
Note: Played the role of decoy against Richard Sherman last week - doubt that carries forward this week.
61.Jordan Matthews PHI at Ind
62.Steve Smith BAL vs. Pit
Note: Led the NFL with 15 targets in Week 1, but also had four drops, almost all early on.
63.John Brown ARZ at NYG
Note: Scored the game-winning touchdown Monday night after having a big preseason - the West version of Allen Hurns.
64.Robert Woods BUF vs. Mia
Note: Was on the field for 91 percent of the team's snaps, as opposed to 53 percent for Mike Williams.
65.James Jones OAK vs. Hou
66.Mike Williams BUF vs. Mia
67.Jeremy Kerley NYJ at GB
68.Devin Hester ATL at Cin
Note: Five catches for 99 yards, but expect much less from Hester going forward. He's still the #4 wide receiver on the Falcons' depth chart.
69.*Aaron Dobson NE at Min
Note: Officially listed as a 'healthy scratch' in Week 1, but I'm not so sure I believe the Patriots here - why would they limit their ability to throw deep so willingly? *** Not listed among the initial inactives, but there's no guarantee about his role yet. I still love Dobson's potential, but you can't use him this week.***
70.Tavon Austin STL at TB
71.Nate Washington TEN vs. Dal
72.Miles Austin CLE vs. NO
73.Steve Johnson SF vs. Chi
74.Jermaine Kearse SEA at SD
75.Danny Amendola NE at Min
76.Andre Caldwell DEN vs. KC
77.Junior Hemingway KC at Den
78.Kenny Britt STL at TB
Note: Total bust in Week 1 - Brian Quick is the Rams receiver that you want.
79.*Josh Morgan CHI at SF
Note: ***(Groin) Listed as doubtful.***
80.*Cecil Shorts JAC at Was
Note: (Hamstring) Will try to run on Tuesday. Didn't practice Wednesday and Thursday, and coach Gus Bradley wasn't exactly optimistic about his status for Week 2. ***Listed as doubtful.***
81.*Josh Gordon CLE vs. NO
Note: Gordon and Welker could possibly be reinstated this week if the new drug-testing policy is ratified by all 32 teams. Still hoping to finalize that agreement between the NFL and NFLPA. Then each of the 32 teams' players have to ratify the agreement. The original target for this was Tuesday, now it's late Thursday and it's not final. If it were ratified and Gordon reinstated on time, I'd put him around 25 this week if he gets one day of practice, 35 with no practice. ***Drug agreement still not finalized, and Gordon could still miss up to 10 games if the initial reports/rumors are true.***
82.*Wes Welker DEN vs. KC
Note: Gordon and Welker could possibly be reinstated this week if the new drug-testing policy is ratified by all 32 teams. Drug testing agreement not finalized in time, Welker is not expected to play.

Tight Ends

1.Jimmy Graham NO at Cle
2.Julius Thomas DEN vs. KC
3.Rob Gronkowski NE at Min
Note: Eleven targets in Week 1 - yeah, you'll be starting him if you own him. ***Officially listed as probable.***
4.Greg Olsen CAR vs. Det
Note: Target monster no matter who the quarterback is.
5.Vernon Davis SF vs. Chi
6.Zach Ertz PHI at Ind
7.Dennis Pitta BAL vs. Pit
Note: Flacco is going to throw to him a ton this year - huge PPR potential.
8.Jason Witten DAL at Ten
9.Kyle Rudolph MIN vs. NE
10.Dwayne Allen IND vs. Phi
Note: Outplayed teammate Coby Fleener by a wide margin.
11.Martellus Bennett CHI at SF
12.Larry Donnell NYG vs. Ari
Note: Not fast, but his size makes him a good red zone target.
13.Antonio Gates SD vs. Sea
Note: Ten targets for Gates, just two for Green, despite Gates being a game-time decision. Limited practice (hamstring) on Wednesday. ***Listed as probable.***
14.Heath Miller PIT at Bal
15.Travis Kelce KC at Den
Note: Even though Fasano scored, Kelce had five targets, including one in the end zone that drwe a pass interference penalty. Stay patient, folks.
16.Levine Toilolo ATL at Cin
Note: Caught a one-yard touchdown pass. Great matchup this week especially if Burfict can't go - Ravens TE's caught a ton of targets.
17.Delanie Walker TEN vs. Dal
18.*Jermaine Gresham CIN vs. Atl
Note: With both Eifert and Marvin Jones out, Gresham could be a bigger part of the game plan for the next few weeks.
19.*Charles Clay MIA at Buf
Note: (Knee) Limited practice participant Thursday.
20.*Garrett Graham HOU at Oak
Note: (Back) Sat out Week 1. Limited practice participant Thursday, though coach Bill O'Brien said that Graham will be in the game against the Raiders. ***Listed as probable for this week.***
21.Jared Cook STL at TB
22.Ladarius Green SD vs. Sea
Note: Ten targets for Gates, just two for Green, despite Gates being a game-time decision. Time to applly the brakes on Green's ascendancy.
23.*Niles Paul WAS vs. Jax
Note: Could get a lot of action if Jordan Reed is out for an appreciable amount of time. ***Jordan Reed is officially out this week.***
24.Brandon Myers TB vs. StL
25.Owen Daniels BAL vs. Pit
26.Andrew Quarless GB vs. NYJ
27.*Richard Rodgers GB vs. NYJ
Note: Injured his neck but later returned. Wasn't on the initial injury report Wednesday.
28.Eric Ebron DET at Car
Note: Just two targets Monday night in his debut, though one was in the red zone.
29.Jace Amaro NYJ at GB
30.Tim Wright NE at Min
31.Scott Chandler BUF vs. Mia
32.Coby Fleener IND vs. Phi
33.Jacob Tamme DEN vs. KC
34.*Marcedes Lewis JAC at Was
Note: (Knee) Limited practice Wednesday. ***Listed as probable.***
35.Zach Miller SEA at SD
36.Brent Celek PHI at Ind
37.Mychal Rivera OAK vs. Hou
38.*Austin Seferian-Jenkins TB vs. StL
Note: (Ankle) Didn't practice Wednesday. ***Out this week.***
39.*Jordan Cameron CLE vs. NO
Note: Aggravated the AC joint in his shoulder in Week 1 - no update on his status just yet. Has not practiced yet this week, but an MRI revealed no structural damage. Cameron might end up being a game-time decision. ***As of Sunday morning, not expected to play.***
40.*Jordan Reed WAS vs. Jax
Note: Suffered a hamstring injury, the extent of which is somewhat uncertain - could miss time the next few weeks. Injury classified as a 'week-to-week' injury. ***Officially out this week.***
41.*Tyler Eifert CIN vs. Atl
Note: Injured his elbow early in the win over the Ravens - the Bengals fear that it's dislocated. Dislocation confirmed - placed on the IR-designated to return list.

Flex (RB/WR/TE)

1.LeSean McCoy PHI at Ind
Note: Had 21 carries to 11 for Sproles, and six receptions to four for Sproles.
2.Calvin Johnson DET at Car
3.*A.J. Green CIN vs. Atl
Note: (Foot) Limited on Wednesday and did not suit up for practice Thursday. ***Returned to practice Friday.***
4.*Dez Bryant DAL at Ten
Note: Dealt with dehydration and a left arm injury in the loss to the Niners.
5.Demaryius Thomas DEN vs. KC
Note: Three drops in Week 1 gave Thomas a pretty mediocre night. While they've been a problem before, don't look for this to change his role or even his value going forward.
6.Julio Jones ATL at Cin
7.Matt Forte CHI at SF
8.Marshawn Lynch SEA at SD
9.Jamaal Charles KC at Den
Note: Somehow got just seven carries against the Titans. Charles still remains in my top 10 because of his pedigree and the lack of other good alternatives on the team. I'm concerned about his offensive line getting pushed around however. Getting Bowe back might help him though, as it makes the threat of a play-action deep ball a lot more realistic.
10.Jimmy Graham NO at Cle
11.Julius Thomas DEN vs. KC
12.*Brandon Marshall CHI at SF
Note: Had to have his ankle wrapped twice but stayed in the game both times. (Ankle) Missed practice Thursday, but coach Marc Trestman indicated that Marshall would still likely play. Friday's practice for both he and Alshon Jeffery could be illuminating. ***This situation has gotten more complicated. Marshall did not practice Friday and is listed as questionable and a game-time decision. Alas, that game time is Sunday night. If you have a reasonable replacement (say, top 40 or so), I'd go with him rather than Marshall, especially if that replacement plays before Marshall.***
13.Antonio Brown PIT at Bal
14.Jordy Nelson GB vs. NYJ
15.Cordarrelle Patterson MIN vs. NE
17.Randall Cobb GB vs. NYJ
18.DeMarco Murray DAL at Ten
Note: An early fumble was a killer, but he was huge the rest of the game.
19.Giovani Bernard CIN vs. Atl
20.Rob Gronkowski NE at Min
Note: Eleven targets in Week 1 - yeah, you'll be starting him if you own him. ***Officially listed as probable.***
21.Alfred Morris WAS vs. Jax
22.Jeremy Maclin PHI at Ind
23.Vincent Jackson TB vs. StL
24.Marques Colston NO at Cle
25.Emmanuel Sanders DEN vs. KC
26.Percy Harvin SEA at SD
27.Montee Ball DEN vs. KC
28.*Arian Foster HOU at Oak
Note: Full participant at Wednesday's practice but then was listed on the initial injury report with a rib injury. Of greater import to me was how much he dominated the workload for the Texans despite averaging just 3.8 yards per carry, well below his career norm. With the coaching change I thought it was plausible that Foster might have to share the load more this year, but at least after one game that doesn't appear to be the case. *** Listed as probable on the injury report. It's possible that the rib injury prompts the Texans to spread the workload around a little bit more than they did last week.***
29.Frank Gore SF vs. Chi
30.Shane Vereen NE at Min
Note: On the field more than Ridley in Week 1 by nearly a 3:1 ratio, and got a goal line carry that he converted.
31.Chris Johnson NYJ at GB
32.Knowshon Moreno MIA at Buf
Note: Ran like a boss, as if it were still 2013. Miami's system fits him perfectly. (Shoulder) Limited practice participant on Wednesday and Thursday. Friday's practice could be revealing about his status. ***Listed as probable for Week 2.***
33.Le'Veon Bell PIT at Bal
34.Greg Olsen CAR vs. Det
Note: Target monster no matter who the quarterback is.
35.Vernon Davis SF vs. Chi
36.Michael Floyd ARZ at NYG
37.T.Y. Hilton IND vs. Phi
38.Kendall Wright TEN vs. Dal
39.DeSean Jackson WAS vs. Jax
40.*Andre Johnson HOU at Oak
Note: (Ankle) Limited practice Thursday.
41.*Reggie Bush DET at Car
Note: (Knee) Limited in practice on Wednesday, but then was a full participant in practice Thursday. ***Listed as probable.***
42.Terrance West CLE vs. NO
Note: Looked great after a terrible a preseason. West will start Sunday with Ben Tate out and share carries with Crowell.
43.Pierre Garcon WAS vs. Jax
44.Julian Edelman NE at Min
45.Reggie Wayne IND vs. Phi
46.Pierre Thomas NO at Cle
Note: Took just 34 of the Saints 75 snaps - the most among Saints running backs, but still fewer than half overall.
47.Zach Ertz PHI at Ind
48.Dennis Pitta BAL vs. Pit
Note: Flacco is going to throw to him a ton this year - huge PPR potential.
49.Jason Witten DAL at Ten
50.*Alshon Jeffery CHI at SF
Note: (Hamstring) Missed the fourth quarter and the overtime quarter, but 'was prepared to go at specific times,' whatever that means. Watch the practice reports carefully. Didn't practice Wednesday and Thursday. Because he missed the end of last week's game, I'm more concerned about Jeffery than I am about Marshall. ***Limited practice Friday, still listed as questionable, as is Marshall. The Bears play Sunday night, further complicating the matter if your potential replacement for either Jeffery or Marshall plays earlier. ***
51.Victor Cruz NYG vs. Ari
52.Torrey Smith BAL vs. Pit
53.Eric Decker NYJ at GB
54.Darren Sproles PHI at Ind
55.*Justin Forsett BAL vs. Pit
Note: Took over for Pierce after Pierce fumbled and ran for 70 yards on 11 carries. The Ravens haven't announced a starter for Week 2 or beyond yet, but you can be sure Forsett will play a pretty big role.
56.Joique Bell DET at Car
57.C.J. Spiller BUF vs. Mia
58.Rashad Jennings NYG vs. Ari
59.Ryan Mathews SD vs. Sea
60.*Andre Ellington ARZ at NYG
Note: (Foot) Was able to play after all Monday night, netting 53 yards on the ground and 27 more through the air. Still, he's wearing a walking boot this week to get his left foot 'calmed down'. Held out of the media portion of practice Thursday. Fortunately the Cardinals play the early game Sunday so any possible game-time decision issues should get resolved quickly. I get the notion that he's going to miss a game at some point, however, as it seems unlikely that the walking boot and no practice routine can last all season. ***Officially listed as questionable but said after Friday's practice that he's good to go.***
61.Steven Jackson ATL at Cin
62.Kyle Rudolph MIN vs. NE
63.Dwayne Allen IND vs. Phi
Note: Outplayed teammate Coby Fleener by a wide margin.
64.Mike Evans TB vs. StL
65.*Mike Wallace MIA at Buf
Note: (Hamstring) Listed as a limited participant in Thursday's practice. ***Listed as probable.***
66.Golden Tate DET at Car
Note: Six catches on six targets Monday night for 93 yards.
67.Marqise Lee JAC at Was
Note: I'd still go with Lee over Hurns - Lee had 10 targets against the Eagles. (Hamstring) Had a limited practice Wednesday but a full practice on Thursday. With Shorts still sidelined Thursday, I think that both Lee and Hurns are worthy of consideration. ***Full practice all week, listed as probable.***
68.Brandin Cooks NO at Cle
Note: So much for the notion that Cooks was behind Nick Toon on the depth chart - even with Kenny Stills out with an injury, Toon was inactive and Cooks caught seven passes in Week 1.
69.Keenan Allen SD vs. Sea
70.Michael Crabtree SF vs. Chi
71.Larry Fitzgerald ARZ at NYG
Note: First target came in the second half, and he had just one catch Monday night.
72.*Terrance Williams DAL at Ten
Note: (Back) Full practice Wednesday. ***Listed as probable.***
73.Kelvin Benjamin CAR vs. Det
74.DeAndre Hopkins HOU at Oak
75.Markus Wheaton PIT at Bal
Note: Had two of his seven catches on the final drive to put the Steelers ahead in Week 1.
76.Shonn Greene TEN vs. Dal
77.Dexter McCluster TEN vs. Dal
78.Fred Jackson BUF vs. Mia
79.Zac Stacy STL at TB
Note: Had just 11 carries after the Rams fell behind the Vikings.
80.Carlos Hyde SF vs. Chi
Note: Positioned solidified with the Niners releasing LaMichael James.
81.Mark Ingram NO at Cle
Note: Made the most of his 20 snaps, running 13 times for 60 yards and two touchdowns.
82.Jacquizz Rodgers ATL at Cin
Note: Saw more work than Freeman, but less than Jackson.
83.DeAngelo Williams CAR vs. Det
Note: More work and production than Stewart last week. Didn't practice Thursday due to a sore thigh. ***Also did not practice Friday and now isn't expected to play.***
84.Danny Woodhead SD vs. Sea
85.James Starks GB vs. NYJ
86.*Eddie Lacy GB vs.
87.*Ben Tate CLE vs. NO
Note: Injured his knee in the loss to Pittsburgh, no update yet. Officially out this week, will 'miss some time' according to coach Mike Pettine.' Could miss Week 3 as well, a scenario that is more likely thanks to the Browns having their bye in Week 4.
88.*Doug Martin TB vs.
89.*Toby Gerhart JAC at Was
Note: Suffered an ankle injury in the loss to Philly but returned later.
90.Trent Richardson IND vs. Phi
91.Ahmad Bradshaw IND vs.
92.*Lamar Miller MIA at Buf
Note: Ran well at times, but lost a fumble and had leg cramps late.
93.*Jonathan Stewart CAR vs. Det
Note: *** I moved him up a couple of slots with DeAngelo Williams unlikely to play. However, Mike Tolbert could steal some of those carries, even at the goal line.***
94.*Jeremy Hill CIN vs. Atl
Note: On the field for only 10 snaps in Week 1, but OC Hue Jackson has pledged to get Hill more work.
95.Rueben Randle NYG vs. Ari
Note: Just three targets in Week 1 even with the Giants trailing the entire game.
96.Greg Jennings MIN vs. NE
Note: Patterson had the big day because of his big runs, but Jennings is a big part of this offense too.
97.Martellus Bennett CHI at SF
98.*Dwayne Bowe KC at Den
Note: Reinstated by the NFL after a one-week ban.
99.Anquan Boldin SF vs. Chi
Note: Had nine targets in the opener against Dallas.
100.Andrew Hawkins CLE vs. NO
101.Steve Smith BAL vs. Pit
Note: Led the NFL with 15 targets in Week 1, but also had four drops, almost all early on.
102.*Sammy Watkins BUF vs. Mia
Note: Still fighting through the rib injury, but was able to practice Wednesday.
103.Riley Cooper PHI at Ind
Note: Seven targets in Week 1, but all low-yardage receptions.
104.*Justin Hunter TEN vs. Dal
Note: (Knee) Limited at Wednesday's practice. ***Full practice Friday, listed as probable.***
105.Malcom Floyd SD vs. Sea
Note: Followed up a great camp with a good opening night.
106.*Allen Hurns JAC at Was
Note: Four catches on nine targets for 110 yards and two touchdowns - not a bad debut at all.
107.Donnie Avery KC at Den
108.Brian Quick STL at TB
109.Rod Streater OAK vs. Hou
110.*Matt Asiata MIN vs.
111.Hakeem Nicks IND vs. Phi
Note: Already has more touchdowns than last year.
112.Brian Hartline MIA at Buf
113.Heath Miller PIT at Bal
114.Travis Kelce KC at Den
Note: Even though Fasano scored, Kelce had five targets, including one in the end zone that drwe a pass interference penalty. Stay patient, folks.
115.*Mohamed Sanu CIN vs. Atl
Note: Could get even more targets with Eifert out eight to 10 weeks.
116.*Bernard Pierce BAL vs. Pit
Note: Buried after losing a fumble against the Bengals, did very little before that. Ravens coach John Harbaugh hasn't named a starter for Thursday yet.
117.*Jerick McKinnon MIN vs. NE
Note: McKinnon is faster than Asiata, but obviously doesn't have as much experience and seems less likely to get goal line carries. He split time between quarterback and tailback at Georgia Southern, so he probably doesn't have that much experience pass-blocking, which could limit his time on the field on third down.
118.Doug Baldwin SEA at SD
119.Jarrett Boykin GB vs. NYJ
Note: Played the role of decoy against Richard Sherman last week - doubt that carries forward this week.
120.*Maurice Jones-Drew OAK vs.
121.Adrian Peterson MIN vs. NE
Note: ***Indicted on child abuse charges, reported to authorities on Friday night , was jailed and released on bond. The Vikings have deactivated him for this week and are waiting out the legal process now.***

Kickers

1.Stephen Gostkowski NE at Min
2.Matt Bryant ATL at Cin
Note: Nailed two kicks from over 50 yards to tie and then win the game for the Falcons.
3.Justin Tucker BAL vs. Pit
4.Mason Crosby GB vs. NYJ
5.Phil Dawson SF vs. Chi
6.Steven Hauschka SEA at SD
7.Brandon McManus DEN vs. KC
8.Dan Bailey DAL at Ten
9.Nick Novak SD vs. Sea
10.Robbie Gould CHI at SF
11.Adam Vinatieri IND vs. Phi
12.Mike Nugent CIN vs. Atl
Note: The Bengals' red zone struggles were his best friend in Week 1.
13.Cody Parkey PHI at Ind
14.Dan Carpenter BUF vs. Mia
15.Ryan Succop TEN vs. Dal
Note: Nailing four attempts against his former team had to feel pretty sweet.
16.Shayne Graham NO at Cle
17.Shaun Suisham PIT at Bal
18.Caleb Sturgis MIA at Buf
Note: Might merit a bump if the Miami offense really is this dynamic.
19.Blair Walsh MIN vs. NE
20.Nate Freese DET at Car
21.Graham Gano CAR vs. Det
22.Greg Zuerlein STL at TB
23.Cairo Santos KC at Den
Note: Clanked one off the upright from 48 while the kicker he replaced nailed four field goals. Good times.
24.Nick Folk NYJ at GB
25.Josh Brown NYG vs. Ari
26.*Kai Forbath WAS vs. Jax
Note: Limited in practice Thursday with a right groin injury. ***On track to play this week.***
27.Chandler Catanzaro ARZ at NYG
28.Josh Scobee JAC at Was
Note: While nursing a quad injury, Scobee missed one quick and had another one blocked. Stay tuned.
29.Patrick Murray TB vs. StL
30.Randy Bullock HOU at Oak
31.Billy Cundiff CLE vs. NO
Note: The Browns passed on a potential go-ahead kick with 5:00 left in the game from 52 yards - granted, it was at Heinz Field, but that's not a ringing endorsement for his job security.
32.Sebastian Janikowski OAK vs. Hou

Defenses

1.Seattle Seahawks at SD
2.Denver Broncos vs. KC
3.*Houston Texans at Oak
Note: Texans will be without the services of Jadeveon Clowney (MCL) for the next 4-to-6 weeks. Whitney Mercilus will start in his place.
4.*Arizona Cardinals at NYG
Note: John Abraham suffered a concussion in the win on Monday night.
5.San Francisco 49ers vs. Chi
Note: My concerns about the Niners defense, at least for one week, seem pretty silly now.
6.Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. StL
7.*Carolina Panthers vs. Det
Note: ***Greg Hardy deactivated.***
8.*Tennessee Titans vs. Dal
Note: Zach Brown will miss the rest of the season with a torn pectoral muscle.
9.Green Bay Packers vs. NYJ
10.Buffalo Bills vs. Mia
11.Baltimore Ravens vs. Pit
12.Detroit Lions at Car
13.*Minnesota Vikings vs. NE
Note: Five sacks last week and the Pats had a hard time protecting Brady last week - I've bumped them up accordingly.
14.*New York Giants vs. Ari
Note: Jason Pierre-Paul will be limited this week with a sore neck. ***Gets to face Drew Stanton instead of Carson Palmer this week.***
15.*St. Louis Rams at TB
Note: Chris Long out eight-to-10 weeks - and the vaunted Rams front 4 didn't have a sack last week.
16.*Miami Dolphins at Buf
Note: Strong performance in Week 1 against the Pats, but suffered a slew of linebacker injuries in the process.
17.*Cincinnati Bengals vs. Atl
Note: Vontaze Burfict left Week 1 in the second quarter with a concussion, and the team's performance immediately suffered. ***Burfict has been cleared to play.***
18.*Washington Redskins vs. Jax
Note: Barry Cofield suffered a high ankle sprain and will be out multiple weeks.
19.Pittsburgh Steelers at Bal
Note: The Browns running backs had huge days against the Steelers' run defense.
20.*New England Patriots at Min
Note: Darrelle Revis missed the final nine snaps due to cramping in the Miami heat.
21.San Diego Chargers vs. Sea
22.New Orleans Saints at Cle
23.Jacksonville Jaguars at Was
24.New York Jets at GB
25.Chicago Bears at SF
26.Cleveland Browns vs. NO
27.Philadelphia Eagles at Ind
28.Oakland Raiders vs. Hou
29.Dallas Cowboys at Ten
30.Atlanta Falcons at Cin
31.*Kansas City Chiefs at Den
Note: Lost Derrick Johnson (Achilles) for the season.
32.*Indianapolis Colts vs. Phi
Note: Jerrell Freeman left with a hamstring injury.
