Jamie Lovemark

Lovemark played seven events before calling it a season with a shoulder injury in 2018-19. He's now trying to get back via the Korn Ferry playoffs but if not, he probably will get a major medical extension for next season. The Tour has not announced medical extensions for 2019-20 as yet. Even if he gets one, Lovemark will have to show he's worth your investment.

Lovemark joined the PGA Tour in 2012 and things did not go well. He returned in 2014 and the results were not much better. It wasn't until 2016 that Lovemark turned a corner. During that season, Lovemark picked-up five top-10s on his way to nearly $2 million in earnings. He followed that season with another strong effort in 2017, when he again nearly earned $2 million. Last season however, Lovemark took a small step backward. It wasn't a terrible season, but he fell below $1.4 million in earnings, which for a guy on an upward trend, was a disappointment. That said, Lovemark's number from last season leaves plenty of room for improvement this year and as such, he makes for a solid salary cap selection. He'll need to play well early in the season to bolster his World Golf Ranking, in order to provide more value in other formats.

It seems like a decade ago that Lovemark came on the scene as a highly touted rookie, but as often happens with young golfers with expectations heaped upon them, he stumbled out of the gate and failed to recover. Fast forward just three seasons and Lovemark was finally tapping into that potential that we thought we saw all those years ago. That was the 2015-16 season and last year, Lovemark again had a productive season. He seems to be getting the hang of it now and the questions now becomes, how high can he go? The price is relatively high, but Lovemark has enough upside to justify his salary cap selection this season.

Lovemark hit the PGA Tour as a highly-touted rookie, but early-on, everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. Entering last season, expectations were not very high, and sometimes, that's where guys find their games. That's exactly what happened to Lovemark last season as he obliterated his previous highs in all categories. If Lovemark had come out of nowhere, the risk would be much higher, but since he was supposed to be this good, then last year's performance makes sense. With that in mind, Lovemark is worth a look in salary cap leagues this season. In drafts he's a fifth-round pick.

Lovemark failed to get into winner's circle on Web.com Tour but had a fantastic Finals, going T14-T7-T24 over final three events to earn his card for 2013-14.

Lovemark entered 2011 with high expectations and with good cause. He tore though the Nationwide Tour the year prior, and the sky was the limit. Things didn't come as easy on the PGA Tour, though, as a back injury derailed his season just nine starts in. Perhaps that injury played a factor in his poor play as well. Whatever the case, since he only played in nine events, he'll have plenty of time to regain his status in 2012. For those in salary cap leagues, he is a must-have.

Lovemark, much like Rickie Fowler, came on strong at the end of the PGA TOUR season in 2009, but his prospects for 2010 aren't quite as bright as Fowler as he must rely on sponsor exemptions to play on the PGA TOUR. He'll get his fare share of exemptions, but unless he produces early, they will run out, and he'll be out of luck.
