FanDuel NHL: Tuesday Targets

FanDuel NHL: Tuesday Targets

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

SLATE PREVIEW

There are nine games for Tuesday, which means there's plenty of goalies to choose from. Tyler Toffoli could make his Flames debut, and it'll be interesting to see if he can bolster an offense that's been heavily reliant on Johnny Gaudreau's line.

There are also plenty of line stacks, but the Sabres' top line of Jeff Skinner and Alex Tuch with Tage Thompson in the middle is definitely worth considering. A home matchup against the Isles shouldn't be as difficult as, say, the Stars' top line playing in Colorado.

GOALIES

Andrei Vasilevskiy, TB at NJ ($8,600): Vasilevskiy has a losing record against three teams in his career: Colorado (1-3-1), Minnesota (3-4-2) and, yup, New Jersey (3-4-0). This odd little quick should not last long since the Lightning will be heavily favored. Expected starter Jon Gillies allowed three goals in each of his two games against the Lightning this season.

Igor Shesterkin, NYR vs. BOS ($8,400): The Bruins won't have a lot of firepower and Shesterkin is the Vezina front-runner as the best goalie in the league. His last start against them was a 34-save performance in a 5-2 win, and the Bruins will be without Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand, both of whom scored a point in that game.

Tristan Jarry, PIT vs. PHI ($8,300): Jarry's games against the Flyers tend to be high-scoring with a career 3.01 GAA, but at least he's heading into the game in a groove with just four goals allowed on 75 shots in his past two starts. The Flyers are missing several key players while the Pens recently just got Evgeni Malkin back.

Juuse Saros, NSH vs. WSH ($8,100): The Caps are really struggling after a 4-1 loss to the Sens, their fifth loss in eight games as their playoff hopes continue to slip. Saros is one of the league's best goalies and should be very motivated after a two-day break to stew on consecutive losses to division rivals. The Preds have lost three in a row just one other time this season.

Ville Husso, STL at OTT ($7,900): Husso should get the start after winning against Chicago on Saturday, and it should be another easy win against Ottawa. Matt Murray and Anton Forsberg's strong play has given them a chance to win every night, but goal scoring has been a problem lately, including consecutive 2-0 shutout losses. The Blues should be good enough defensively and have enough offense to take care of the Sens easily.

VALUE PLAYS

Alexis Lafreniere, NYR vs. BOS ($4,000): The former first overall pick has yet to really up to the hype, but with Kaapo Kakko injured, Lafreniere has been moved up the lineup and now plays with Mika Zibanejad and Chris Kreider. This is a very good opportunity for Lafreniere and a good matchup against the B's, who will be missing both Bergeron and Marchand, their top two-way forwards. Another goal will extend his current streak to three games, and Lafreniere scored against the Bruins earlier this season.

Sean Monahan, CGY vs. CBJ ($4,200): If the Flames keep their top two lines intact, it looks like Tyler Toffoli will skate with Monahan on the third line, giving Monahan his best linemate since Johnny Gaudreau. It's definitely an upgrade over Dillon Dube and Brett Ritchie, and maybe Toffoli's two-way play will take some pressure off Monahan. The bet is Toffoli, who struggled like everyone else in Montréal, and Monahan can make each other a lot better.

LINE STACKS

Sabres vs. Islanders

Tage Thompson (C - $6,300), Alex Tuch (W - $7,200), Jeff Skinner (W - $6,400)

Skinner scored four goals in his last game and Tuch has been an excellent addition playing at a point-per-game pace since returning from injury. The Isles are still tough on defense but have only been living off that reputation this season, and the Sabres aren't afraid to turn their skilled players loose under Don Granato.

Predators vs. Capitals

Mikael Granlund (C - $5,300), Filip Forsberg (W - $8,700), Matt Duchene (W - $7,500)

It's been more down than up for expected starter Ilya Samsonov, who is coming off a loss to the Sens after allowing four goals on just 26 shots. The Caps seem ill-prepared most nights, which is the opposite for Duchene and Forsberg's resurgent seasons. The Caps have allowed 3.80 goals per game since Feb. 1, seventh-worst in the league.

DEFENSEMEN

Chris Tanev, CGY vs. CBJ ($4,900): The steady stay-at-home has been a scoring machine over the past four games, scoring two goals and five assists, which comprises nearly half of his season total. The Jackets should be another easy target because they don't defend particularly well, giving Tanev an opportunity to extend his point streak.

Erik Brannstrom, OTT vs. STL ($3,800): Thomas Chabot is questionable for Tuesday's game against the Blues, and his absence will leave a huge void on the Sens' power play. Look for Brannstrom to get moved up from PP2 to the top unit; even though he has only two assists in 16 games this season, he has more offensive upside than any other Sens defenseman. It's not an easy matchup, but it could be a good value play if the Sens get some power play opportunities.
