Set for conditioning loan
Husso, who has been out with a lower-body injury since Feb. 13, is expected to report to AHL Grand Rapids this week on a conditioning assignment, according to Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press.
ANALYSIS
Husso should see some practice time with the Grffins before getting into a game or two. In 19 NHL appearances this season, the 29-year-old netminder has a 9-5-2 record with a 3.55 GAA and an .892 save percentage.

Husso was expected to serve as the backup to Jordan Binnington in St. Louis in 2021-22, but he played so well in his second NHL season -- 25-7-6 record, 2.56 GAA, .919 save percentage -- that he held onto the team's No. 1 job for a good chunk of the campaign. Set to hit unrestricted free agency this summer, Husso's rights were dealt to Detroit in July, and he ended up signing a three-year, $14.25 million contract with the team. That financial commitment should ensure that Husso opens the year as the starter for the Red Wings, making him a sneaky fantasy option considering all of the quality additions Detroit added to its roster this summer.
