DraftKings NHL: Friday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Friday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Pekka Rinne, NAS @ ANA ($7,300): With the Ducks generating the fewest high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes (8.6) at five-on-five in the league, and Nashville coming off a disappointing 4-1 loss to San Jose last time out, this checks out as a solid bounce-back sport for Rinne. Even with his underwhelming showing last time out on the books, Rinne sports a rock-solid .931 save percentage and 2.10 GAA, and his salary also stands as a nice discount.

CENTER

Connor McDavid, EDM vs. NJD ($8,300): The Oilers are currently scoring the fewest goals per game in the league (2.18), and McDavid has contributed to most with five tallies and eight helpers through 11 games. It's not a guarantee that the offense is going to come in bunches for Edmonton, but McDavid's fantasy floor shouldn't be ignored since salary isn't prohibitive and the options are limited.

Nico Hischier, NJD at EDM ($5,000): While currently mired in a four-game point drought, the rookie presents nice value skating in a top-line role against the struggling Oilers. Edmonton has surrendered 12 goals and 14.7 high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes through its past three games. This sets up as a bounce-back spot for Hischier.

WING

Taylor Hall, NJD at EDM ($7,000): The 2010 No. 1 pick returns to Edmonton in scorching hot form, as Hall's collected two goals, nine assists and 17 shots through his past six games. As noted, the Oilers are struggling, and Hall pairs nicely with even-strength linemate Nico Hischier in an affordable stack.

Patrick Maroon, EDM vs. NJD ($5,500): Not only is Maroon sporting a six-game point streak, but he's marked the scoresheet in nine of 11 games this season while logging 18:47 of ice time (2:35 with the man advantage). Skating with Connor McDavid in all situations is also a tremendous value boost, too.

Kevin Fiala, NAS at ANA ($3,700): The speedy winger has been skating on the No. 1 line with Ryan Johansen and Filip Forsberg of late and also receiving looks on the second power-play unit. Fiala isn't off to a tremendous start, but he's marked the scoresheet in two of his past three games and while logging a substantial 3:34 of ice with the man advantage. He's an upside source of cap relief to consider.

DEFENSE

Roman Josi, NAS at ANA ($6,500): Since returning from a lower-body injury, Josi has collected three goals, three assists, 32 shots and 11 blocked shots through six contests. He's also logging a hefty 25:32 of ice time with 4:16 on the power play during that stretch. There are enough values in the player pool to invest in Josi's high-floor, high-ceiling combo.

Darnell Nurse, EDM vs. NJD ($3,500): Somewhat quietly, Nurse has posted excellent peripheral numbers with 31 shots and 20 blocked shots through 11 games. His three helpers obviously don't explode off the page, and Nurse isn't receiving consistent power-play time. However, he offers reliable value through his peripheral contributions and also has offers some upside.
