FanDuel NHL: Wednesday Value Plays

FanDuel NHL: Wednesday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

With a short three-game slate Wednesday, I've gathered top value options to consider when building your FanDuel lineups…

Goalie

Henrik Lundqvist, NYR vs BOS ($8,500): The Rangers are rolling right now and Lundqvist has been a major part of their success. He's won four straight starts, and while the GAA may not be where he wants it to be, he's making the crucial saves when they count the most. The Bruins are a little beat up right now and have yet to fully hit their stride. With the Rangers hosting them in the marquee game of the night, look for the King to stand tall.

Center

Joe Thornton, SJ vs TB ($5,600): Thornton continues to perform in the latter stages of his career on a Sharks team that has started to play better as a whole. He has points in two of his last three games and has two goals and six assists on the season. Skating on the top line and top power-play unit, Thornton sees a good amount of ice time and should be productive in this spot.

Nazem Kadri, TOR vs MIN ($5,800): With two goals in his last game, Kadri is showing to be a value option on most nights as a pivot off Auston Matthews. He's averaging close to three shots on goal per game and could capitalize for a Leafs squad that's third in the league in goals.

Wing

Nino Niederreiter, MIN at TOR ($4,900): With goals in two of his last three games, Niederreiter has played in four games since returning from a brief absence due to injury. The 17 minutes he skated in his last game were the most since he returned, suggesting that he is at or near full strength.

Chris Kreider, NYR vs BOS ($5,600): Kreider is a guy that you want to ride when he's hot as one of the more streaky players in the league. The Boston College product has four goals in his last six games and is averaging 4.25 shots on goal in his last four. He's seeing time on the Rangers' top line with Mika Zibanajad and Pavel Buchnevich, as well as on the top power-play unit.

Yanni Gourde, TB at SJ ($3,400): With goals in three straight games, Gourde has been a pleasant surprise for a high-powered Lightning offense. He's skating on the second line with Brayden Point and Ondrej Palat and is seeing some time on the power play. He's extremely cheap and should continue to get scoring chances as the Lightning lead the league in goals per game.

Defense

Jared Spurgeon, MIN at TOR ($4,700): The Wild defense is a great strength, as most of their blueliners have very good offensive ability. Ryan Suter sticks out as one who has done it for years, but Spurgeon is a good value option on the back end that should take advantage of the Maple Leafs' ineffectiveness at stopping opposing defensemen. He's seen over 26 minutes of ice time in his last two games and has produced three points (one goal, two assists) over his last three.

Tim Heed, SJ vs TB ($4,200): Heed is a 26-year-old Swedish defenseman with a wicked shot that has grabbed the attention of most familiar with the Sharks organization. He's only $4,200, is seeing time on the point on the top power-play unit, and has three points in his last three games. He's a nice play at a position in which Brent Burns will be the chalk at a much heavier price tag.
