Yahoo DFS Hockey: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Hockey series.

The nine-game slate Tuesday is full of matchups to take advantage of. Read on for tips on some of the best values when assembling your lineup...

Goalie

Devan Dubnyk, MIN vs. PHI ($26)

After posting shutouts in his last two starts, the second of which came in Philadelphia on Saturday, Dubnyk appears to be back in a big way, though his price isn't reflecting that yet. While it would be silly to count on the 31-year-old shutting the Flyers out again Tuesday, it's worth noting that that he has won three of his last four starts at home with an impressive .930 save percentage over that span.

Goalie to Avoid

Braden Holtby, WAS @ NSH ($36)

As has been the case over the last few seasons, the Predators have been stupendous on home ice and come into Tuesday's game hot as can be, having won their last four contests with 13 goals scored over that span. Holtby is riding his own impressive winning streak but has been less than stellar on the road this season, posting a .904 save percentage and 3.17 GAA. Nashville could be a trap, so don't overspend Tuesday.

Center

Vincent Trocheck, FLA vs. DAL ($18)

Dallas comes into the Tuesday slate as the only team on the second half of a back-to-back, which could prove to be a boon for Trocheck and the potent Panthers offense. Prior to Saturday's loss in New Jersey, the Pittsburgh native had lit the lamp in four consecutive games while firing 10 shots on goal over that span. That sort of production, in addition to the excellent opportunity, makes Trocheck a bargain Tuesday.

Center to Avoid

Connor McDavid, EDM vs. VGK ($34)

I didn't ever foresee myself putting McDavid in the "to avoid" category, but here we are. The 2015 No. 1 overall pick has managed three points in the last five games, but nine shots on goal and minus-1 rating have contributed to 9.8 fantasy points or fewer during that span. His top-shelf pricing just doesn't make him worth it given his modest production.

Wing

Jason Zucker, MIN vs. PHI ($18)

Zucker's record-tying run of six consecutive team goals for the Wild has been a thing of beauty to watch, and while it's far from a sure thing that he'll break the record and score a seventh straight, his undeniable presence in the Minnesota offense makes him a must-play right now. Add in the fact that Philadelphia is allowing 2.88 road goals per game, and the California native is a bargain Tuesday.

Kyle Connor, WPG vs. ARI ($15)

Connor is quickly becoming an essential piece of this high-powered Winnipeg offense in his sophomore season. The 20-year-old's eight points and 20 shots on goal are impressive, and his role on the first line and first power-play unit with the likes of Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler are doing wonders for his game. His price is way too low considering the opportunity he has against Arizona's poor defense, so take advantage.

Wings to Avoid

Jakub Voracek, PHI @ MIN ($25)

Voracek has been a productive force for the Flyers this season, but he's been markedly inconsistent, experiencing scoring streaks and droughts in almost equal measure. The Czech winger wasn't able to figure out Dubnyk and the Wild on Saturday and, at the listed price, it's not worth betting on him.

Cam Atkinson, CLS @ MON ($21)

Atkinson has dealt with injury and mediocrity through the first month-plus of the campaign, and in three games since returning from a lower-body ailment, he has no points and a minus-2 rating. The Connecticut native will get back on track eventually, but it's tough to ask him to do that against a Montreal squad that has seemingly found its groove and is allowing just 2.75 goals per game at home.

Defense

John Klingberg, DAL @ FLA ($23)

Prior to being held off the scoresheet Monday, Klingberg was riding a three-game point streak that saw him rack up seven points, including two assists on the power play. As the power-play quarterback, the Swedish blueliner will continue to be heavily involved with the explosive Dallas offense, and that could pay big dividends Tuesday against a Panthers team that is allowing a league-worst 4.38 goals per game at home.

Nate Schmidt, VGK @ EDM ($15)

Schmidt has thoroughly established himself as the go-to option for the Golden Knights' defensive corps, clocking in with the most ice time on the team and quarterbacking the first power-play unit. The 26-year-old's point total could be better, but he'll have an excellent chance to bolster it Tuesday against an Edmonton defense that has a 3.89 team GAA at home.

Defensemen to Avoid

Shea Weber, MON vs. CLS ($23)

The Canadiens' recent resurgence has much of the team back on track, but Weber seemingly continues to struggle regardless -- the British Columbia native has no points and only five shots in his last three games and was also forced to sit out a contest due to a lower-body injury. The 26:26 of average ice time suggests that the hard-shooting defenseman is being overworked, so don't count on him cracking a tough Columbus defense Tuesday.

Ivan Provorov, PHI @ MIN ($19)

Provorov's play has stagnated lately, as the Russian defenseman is riding a five-game pointless streak that has seem him fire just nine shots on goal. Minnesota's defense is one of the more solid units in the league, but what further hurts Provorov's stock is the fact that the Wild also average just 29.8 shots allowed per game. This lowers 20-year-old's chances of blocking shots, which has been an area of strong fantasy output this season.
