DraftKings NHL: Saturday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Carey Price, MON vs. BUF ($7,800): Turning to Price in his first game back from injury is obviously risky, but he's an elite talent and wouldn't be starting if he wasn't fully healthy. Additionally, the Habs continue to play a strong possession game with just 10.14 high-danger scoring chances allowed per 60 minutes at five-on-five and a 53.22 Corsi For percentage. Buffalo is also on the second leg of a back-to-back set and in a letdown spot following a strong win over Edmonton.

CENTER

Sean Monahan, CGY at COL ($6,900): The Avs are far from a daunting matchup with 3.16 goals allowed and a middle-of-the-pack 11.21 high-danger scoring chances surrendered per 60 minutes. Monahan also enters with three multi-point showings for six goals, nine points and 15 shots through his past four games. His salary hasn't caught up to his recent offensive outburst, either.

Jonathan Drouin, MON vs. BUF ($5,000): The first-year Hab has gone 13 games without a multi-point showing and has just a single goal and six points during that stretch. Projected to center an intriguing line with Alex Galchenyuk and Paul Byron at even strength, this checks out as a buy-low spot for Drouin. There's contrarian appeal here.

WING

Johnny Gaudreau, CGY at COL ($7,600): At this stage of the season, it's becoming risky to fade Gaudreau. His salary is still reasonable, and he's also marked the scoresheet in 11 of his past 12 contests for nine goals, 13 assists and eight multi-point showings. As noted, there is also nothing intimidating about the matchup.

Kyle Connor, WPG at SAN ($4,900): After Friday's empty-net goal, Connor has recorded an impressive six goals, six assists and 38 shots while logging top-line minutes and looks with the No. 1 power-play unit. His growing confidence was also on full display, and he's combined with Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler for a rock-solid 4.56 goals per 60 minutes this season. Connor should have low ownership and his salary is easily slotted under the cap.

Nick Bjugstad, FLA vs. CHI ($3,600): Promoted to the second line alongside Vincent Trocheck, Bjugstad has shown an uptick in shot volume and offense. The 25-year-old Minneapolis native has three goals and 20 shots through his past six contests and has also been receiving more consistent power-play time. With Chicago allowing the fifth most high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes (12.6), Bjugstad stands out as a potential value from his salary range.

DEFENSE

Drew Doughty, LA vs. ANA ($5,500): Somewhat quietly, Doughty has recorded five points, 14 shots and 13 blocked shots while averaging 26:08 of ice time (3:29 with the man advantage) through his past seven games. The Ducks are surrendering the most high-danger scoring chances in the league, and Doughty's offensive upside, huge role and solid peripheral coverage make him a high-floor, high-ceiling target.

Duncan Keith, CHI at FLA ($4,800): While the veteran has just four helpers through his past 12 contests, three have come in the last three games, and he continues to log huge minutes (25:10 with 4:04 on the power play). This is also a sneaky matchup for the Blackhawks, as Florida starter Roberto Luongo owns an unsustainably high .955 save percentage through his past six contests. Keith's salary also stands out as an excellent value.
