DraftKings NHL: Monday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Monday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

Goalie

Corey Crawford, CHI vs ANH ($8,300): Crawford has won three of his last four games and has a good matchup at home tonight. Flying across the country with just one day of rest, the Ducks could very likely come out a bit sluggish, which bodes well for Crawford and the Blackhawks, who have gone 6-3-1 in their last 10. The Ducks are scuffling right now as losers of their last three and have averaged just 2.61 goals per game this season, which ranks 26th in the NHL.

Center

Sean Couturier, PHI at PIT ($7,700): Couturier has blossomed into an offensive threat while already being a top-flight defensive forward. He's centering one of the better lines in hockey with Jakob Voracek and Claude Giroux on his wings. With a goal and two assists in his last two games, Couturier should take advantage of a bad defensive team in the Penguins.

Vincent Trocheck, FLA at NJ ($6,200): The Panthers have two good centers in Trocheck and Aleksander Barkov. I like the play of Trocheck and the price tag that is attached to him. He's $700 less than Barkov with similar upside as a high-volume shooting center. Averaging four shots on goal over his last three games, Trocheck has a goal and two assists over that span. He's a fast skater with a great shot and regularly sees 20-plus minutes of ice time per game.

Wing

Phil Kessel, PIT vs PHI ($8,100): Kessel has been the Penguins most consistent offensive player this season and, yes, that includes Sidney Crosby. Kessel has 11 goals and 20 assists on the season and over his last three games he has three goals and four assists. He's flown under the radar to a certain degree this season but his production stacks up near the top of the league.

Brandon Saad, CHI vs ANH ($5,800): Saad has been a bit streaky this season as he started off hot and then went through a long drought, 10 games to be exact, without a goal. In the Blackhawks' last game he had a goal and an assist, just his second and third points in his last six games. He's in a good spot and does provide a high volume of shots on goal. With Saad still seeing solid ice time (18 or more minutes in six of his last seven games) he's a good value at home Monday.

Kyle Connor, WPG vs MIN ($4,800): The nice thing about Connor is that generally when he gets the puck in a good scoring situation, he shoots it. He skates on the first line with Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler and is averaging three shots on goal per game over his last eight. Over that span he has three goals and an assist for the Jets, who have been up and down offensively through the quarter mark of the season. At $4,800, though, his value jumps off the page considering who he skates with and the scoring chances he sees.

Defense

Ivan Provorov, PHI at PIT ($5,200): The Penguins have been battered by defensemen this season and Provorov has been as steady a play as there is on the blue line. With two goals and two assists in his last three games, Provorov has four goals and eight helpers now on the season. He's already a shot blocking machine with 60 on the year, but offering offensive upside against a team that struggles against the position makes him one of my favorite values on the slate.

Cam Fowler, ANH at CHI ($4,000): With Fowler back in the lineup, the Ducks blue line is much stronger as he anchors their top pairing and runs the point in the power play. In his four games back, he's posted two assists, four shots on goal, and 13 blocked shots. He tallied over 25 minutes in his last game, making one think that his endurance is back close to, if not at, 100 percent. Fowler is an offensive threat on the blue line and is in a good spot.
