FanDuel NHL: Saturday Value Plays

FanDuel NHL: Saturday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

Goalie

Mike Smith, CGY vs EDM ($8,000): Smith has been solid in four of his last five starts and hasn't been win-dependent in producing fantasy points, which should only boost his upside in this home matchup against the Oilers. In those five appearances, Smith has amassed over 24 points in three of them. The Oilers still haven't fully hit their stride offensively, but Smith should see plenty of chances to make some saves.

Center

Vincent Trocheck, FLA at CAR ($5,800): Trocheck and the Panthers roll into Carolina after a tough home test last night against San Jose where they fell a bit short. Over his last three games, Trocheck has notched one goal and 14 shots on goal. Overall, he has 10 goals and 13 assists and has asserted himself on the power play with three goals and three assists. Trocheck remains extremely cheap for his production level and has also succeeded against Carolina in the past, with two goals and an assist in his last three encounters.

Derek Stepan, ARI vs NJD ($5,300): After scoring in six straight contests (one goal, six assists), Stepan has gone scoreless over his last two. He's in a good spot against the Devils at home, having seen a lot of this franchise over his career with the Rangers. In 33 games against them, Stepan has posted 12 goals and 13 assists. He's priced very low and offers a solid floor skating at least 20 minutes of ice time in each of his last four.

Wing

Patric Hornqvist, PIT at BUF ($5,600): Hornqvist potted a goal in this same matchup on Friday and has been hot of late with points in each of his last four games (two goals, two assists) over that span. He's been energized playing on a line with Sidney Crosby and pairing the two is easily doable with Hornqvist's low salary.

Brock Boeser, VAN vs TOR ($6,200): Boeser is one of the NHL's young up-and-coming stars and has flashed his talent often in the first quarter of the season. He has huge upside, with six games notching two or more points. Of his 25 points (13 goals, 12 assists), 11 of them (three goals, eight assists) have come on the power play. Boeser is in a great spot against a Toronto team that continues to experience defensive issues.

Josh Anderson, CBJ at WAS ($4,600): Anderson has recently been moved up to the top line for Columbus and has been red hot. Over his last five matchups, he has found the score sheet in every contest with a total of three goals and four assists. Columbus plays their second game in as many nights and this one on the road is risky, but Anderson is a great value at his salary and power-play involvement.

Defense

Cam Fowler, ANH at NSH ($4,700): In seven games since returning from injury, Fowler has one goal – which came on Friday – three assists, and is averaging over 22 minutes. With the former first-rounder getting his legs back, he draws into a favorable matchup against Nashville. Over the last four weeks, the Predators have allowed 10 goals and 19 assists to defensemen (fifth-worst in the league). You're getting Fowler at a discount price that won't last too long.

Jake Gardiner, TOR at VAN ($3,800): Gardiner is a cheaper pivot compared to Morgan Rielly, who has been a bit cold of late. Gardiner, though, has points in three of his last four and faces a great matchup against the Canucks. Over the last four weeks, Vancouver has allowed the second-most fantasy points to defensemen. Gardiner remains a solid value at $3,800 by skating 20-plus minutes and receiving plenty of power-play action per night.
