DraftKings NHL: Sunday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

David Rittich, CGY at VAN ($7,500): The rookie has won both his starts this season with a .937 save percentage. The Canucks snapped a four-game losing skid last time out, but has still scored just nine goals through their latest five contests. Rittich's salary also opens plenty of spending room to fit in some high-end forwards. Just note, with a limited track record, he's not without risk.

CENTER

Mark Scheifele, WPG vs. STL ($7,000): With just a single assist through his past six contests, Scheifele is a ripe rebound target in the second half of this home-and-home set against St. Louis. He logged 21:28 of ice time (4:39 on the power play) in Saturday's 2-0 loss to the Blues and has recorded a high-end 3.0 points per 60 minutes for the campaign. There's potential his ownership percent is down in the tough matchup, too.

Mikko Koivu, MIN at CHI ($4,600): The veteran failed to mark the scoresheet for the 10 consecutive game despite being on the ice for five high-danger chances during Saturday's 3-2 loss to Edmonton. His salary has dropped into prime value territory, and Koivu remains locked into a top-six role with power-play time. It's also worth noting that Chicago has allowed the fourth most high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes in the league.

WING

Blake Wheeler, WPG vs. STL ($6,800): A stack option to go with center Mark Scheifele, Wheeler recorded seven shots during Saturday's loss to St. Louis. The winger has recorded an elite 3.37 points per 60 minutes for the campaign, and often, a significant uptick in shot volume is followed by a strong offensive showing. There's no sugar coating that it's a tough matchup against the Blues, though.

Alex DeBrincat, CHI vs. MIN ($5,400): The rookie has done most of his offensive damage out of a bottom-six role this season, so now that he's skating atop the depth chart at even strength, DeBrincat is an intriguing value play. His 2.9 points per 60 minutes doesn't align with his current salary, and the Wild are playing their second game in consecutive days after losing to Edmonton on Saturday. It's also worth noting that Minnesota No. 1 Devan Dubnyk is unlikely to suit up because of a lower-body injury.

Micheal Ferland, CGY at VAN ($4,200): A go-to gig alongside Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan in all situations makes Ferland a sound option. The 25-year-old winger is in the midst of a career-best offensive campaign while logging a personal-high 2:17 of ice time with the man advantage. The Canucks are also beginning to slip defensively with 23 goals allowed through their past five contests -- four loses.

DEFENSE

Duncan Keith, CHI vs. MIN ($5,200): Despite logging a hefty 24:39 of ice time with 3:53 on the power play through the past nine outings, Keith has just two helpers. He's buoyed his value with 21 shots and 18 blocked shots, but with Minnesota traveling to Chicago for a second early game in consecutive days, this could prove to be a solid schedule spot for Keith. In a shallow defense pool, his significant role provides a solid floor, and the price is manageable.

Colin Miller, VGK vs. FLA ($3,800): An upside source of cap relief, Miller's posted a rock-solid 1.78 points per 60 minutes this season, which includes a goal and five helpers through his past seven contests. There's nothing scary about a home matchup with the Panthers, and Miller's locked into an offensive role with 58.9 percent of his five-on-five shifts beginning in the offensive zone.
