FanDuel NHL: Saturday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

Goalie

Juuse Saros, NSH vs MIN ($7,500): Saros will likely be in net tonight after the Wild came away with a 4-2 win yesterday against Pekka Rinne. He has been solid of late when given the opportunity, stopping 135 of the last 140 shots he's faced over three starts – two of which were shutouts. I expect the Predators to bounce back at home and like Saros as a value option between the pipes.

Center

Jonathan Drouin, MTL at FLA ($5,300): Drouin has all the talent in the world but has underwhelmed for the majority of his career as a result of inconsistency. He has notched five points in his last five games against the Panthers, who have struggled over the last 12 against centers by allowing the fifth most fantasy points to the position with 16 goals and 14 assists.

Matt Duchene, OTT vs BOS ($4,400): Duchene, much like Drouin, possesses plenty of skill but doesn't regularly perform to expectations. He potted a goal last night, snapping a five-game pointless streak and also has two goals and two assists against the Bruins in his last four matchups. With Duchene skating on the top line and power-play unit, he looks to be incredibly underpriced in this spot.

Wing

Sebastian Aho, CAR at STL ($5,800): Aho is heating up after a dreadful start where he went 15 contests without a goal. Since then, he has scored 10 goals – four of which have come in the Hurricanes' last three. The matchup for Aho against St. Louis is solid, as the Blues have allowed 25 goals and 36 assists to left wingers this season. And he's developed tremendous chemistry with linemates Jordan Staal and Teuvo Teravainen both at even strength and on the power play.

Nick Bjugstad, FLA vs MTL ($4,200): Bjugstad is getting an opportunity to skate on the first line with Aleksander Barkov and Jonathan Huberdeau and is taking full advantage. In his last eight appearances, he has racked up two goals and five assists and is also skating on the power play. Bjugstad has always been talented, but has dealt with injuries for most of his career. In a game that should see some offense, he shapes up as a salary-saver who should produce.

David Backes, BOS at OTT ($5,200): The second line for Boston has been flourishing of late, with Backes leading the charge. He has notched points in five of his last six games, totaling five goals and four assists over that period. The veteran has performed well against the Senators, with six points in his last six against them. With Backes also seeing time on the power play, his upside is enhanced against an Ottawa side playing the second of back-to-back nights.

Defense

Jake Muzzin, LA at VAN ($4,500): Muzzin has just two points in his last four outings but acts as a capable number two defenseman behind Drew Doughty with three goals, 18 assists, 83 shots on goal, and 78 blocked shots on the season. The Canucks have really struggled with D-men over the last four weeks by surrendering the fourth-most fantasy points overall to the position with 10 goals and 17 assists.

Jeff Petry, MTL at FLA ($4,100): Petry has stepped in for the injured Shea Weber and has done an adequate job. He's produced double-digit fantasy points in three of his last five games and that trend should continue tonight as the Panthers have allowed blueliners to score six goals and dish out 18 assists over the last 12 contests.
