DraftKings NHL: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Braden Holtby, WAS vs. STL ($7,800): The Blues enter following a 6-3 road loss to Philadelphia on Saturday and are also playing their third game in four days. Holtby boasts an elite 14-4-0 record, .933 save percentage and 2.10 GAA at home for the campaign, so at this salary, he's a lineup building block.

CENTER

Nico Hischier, NJD at NYI ($5,300): The rookie has collected three goals, three assists and 22 shots through his past seven games. Hischier's top-line gig with Taylor Hall is also encouraging, as the duo has combined for a respectable 3.98 goals per hour this season. Of course, the real draw here is the Islanders reeling team defense and goaltending. During its five-game losing streak, New York has allowed 5.0 goals and 15.6 high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes with an .871 team save percentage.

Nick Schmaltz, CHI vs. EDM ($4,900): The Oilers enter on the second leg of a back-to-back road set and have surrendered four goals or more in four of their past five contests. Schmaltz's presents nice value at this salary, and he also helps mitigate linemate Patrick Kane's price in a mini stack. Additionally, the 21-year-old sophomore is in strong form with four goals and six helpers through his past nine contests.

WING

Patrick Kane, CHI vs. EDM ($7,500): As noted, this should be a soft schedule spot for the Blackhawks, and Kane is riding high with seven tallies, six helpers, 41 shots and five multi-point showings through his past 11 games. Additionally, considering his track record as an elite offensive contributor, this salary isn't prohibitive.

Claude Giroux, PHI vs. BUF ($6,500): With a goal and two assists Saturday, Giroux is up to three tallies, 20 helpers and eight multi-point showings through his past 14 contests. Those numbers don't match his current salary, and the Sabres have allowed the second most goals per 60 minutes (3.63) on the road this season.

Evgenii Dadonov, FLA at CLM ($4,500): Now skating with Aleksander Barkov and Jonathan Huberdeau in all situations again, Dadonov is a solid option and offers nice upside at his salary. The trio have combined for an impressive 4.01 goals per 60 minutes, and Columbus has lost four of its past five outings with 17 goals allowed.

DEFENSE

Shayne Gostisbehere, PHI vs. BUF ($5,600): With a helper Saturday, Gostisbehere improved to seven goals and eight assists through his past 19 contests, and his 2.35 points per hour pace all defensemen with at least 700 minutes this season. Considering Buffalo's previously highlighted road struggles, the Florida native checks out as a solid option.

Sami Vatanen, NJD at NYI ($3,800): The Finnish defenseman is an outing removed from a four-game point streak and presents excellent value at this salary. Vatanen is logging 22:03 of ice time with 1:57 on the power play since joining the Devils, and he lands in a ripe matchup against the Islanders. It's worth noting that he also offers a respectable floor through his shot volume and willingness to block shots.
