DraftKings NHL: Friday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

John Gibson, ANA vs. LA ($7,800): The Kings enter on the second leg of a back-to-back set after losing 3-1 to the Penguins on Thursday, so this projects as a solid schedule spot for the Ducks. Anaheim's return to health has been a boost for Gibson, as he's gone 5-2-1 with a .934 save percentage and 1.87 GAA through his past eight outings. There's also potential for Gibson's ownership percentage to provide value with many players likely to gravitate toward Philipp Grubauer.

CENTER

Aleksander Barkov, FLA vs. VGK ($6,800): Before being held off the scoresheet last time out, Barkov posted six goals, 17 points and 63 shots through his previous 16 contests while logging a hefty 22:18 of ice time (2:44 on the power play). He lands in a sneaky matchup against Vegas, as the Golden Knights are playing their second road contest in consecutive nights and have surrendered 3.09 goals per away game this season.

Evgeny Kuznetsov, WAS vs. MON ($5,600): The Capitals will be eager for a bounce-back showing after losing in overtime to the Devils on Thursday, and Kuznetsov's priced for profit considering his rock-solid 2.9 points per 60 minutes. The center has collected a respectable three points -- one goal -- and eight shots through his past four games while logging 18:22 of ice time (4:26 with the man advantage), so he also enters in good form.

WING

Jonathan Marchessault, VGK at FLA ($7,400): After posting his breakout showing with the Panthers last year, Marchessault returns to the BB&T Center for the first time as a Golden Knight. The high-scoring winger has recorded six goals, 10 assists and 55 shots through his past 13 games to catapult him up to an elite 3.57 points per 60 minutes.

Evgenii Dadonov, FLA vs. VGK ($4,700): The Russian enters with a four-game point streak consisting of two goals, three assists and 15 shots. Additionally, Dadonov has combined with linemates Aleksander Barkov and Jonathan Huberdeau for an impressive 4.21 goals per 60 minutes this season, and the trio is locked into top offensive minutes in all situations.

Ondrej Kase, ANA vs. LA ($4,300): The Czech winger has collected three goals, two assists and 10 shots through his past three outings and boasts an impressive 2.88 points per 60 minutes for the campaign. As noted, the Kings are playing their second game in consecutive nights, and Kase should see favorable in-game matchups with Los Angeles likely aiming to shut down the top two lines.

DEFENSE

John Carlson, WAS vs. MON ($6,600): With three goals, 14 assists, 49 shots and 35 blocked shots through his past 20 games, Carlson continues to post career-best numbers and provide a high-floor, high-ceiling combo for daily contests. His 1.75 points per 60 minutes is an elite mark among blueliners, and in a shallow defense pool, spending up at the position can be a means of differentiating lineups.

Shea Theodore, VGK at FLA ($4,500): With just a single assist through his past six games, look for statistical correction from the talented defenseman against Florida. Theodore's 1.49 points per hour rank 23rd among all defensemen with at least 500 minutes this season, so there's also plenty of value built into his salary. Additionally, he's a potential stack option with Jonathan Marchessault, as they skate on Vegas' No. 1 power-play unit.
