DraftKings NHL: Tuesday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Carey Price, MON vs. COL ($7,300): The Avalanche have won 10 consecutive games and enter Tuesday's contest on the second leg of a back-to-back road set, so this sets up as a letdown spot for Colorado. Price's salary is in value territory, and he's played much better since returning from a lower-body injury (.922 save percentage through 22 outings). Additionally, his return to form also aligns with the discovery that he was playing through chronic fatigue earlier this season.

CENTER

Jack Eichel, BUF at EDM ($6,600): Dating back to mid-December, Eichel has collected 11 goals, 21 points and 70 shots through 15 games. Considering he also went on a similar run last year, this price is a little short. The center offers a high-floor, high-ceiling combo, and he lands in a decent matchup against the Oilers. Edmonton enters with an active 4-6-1 record while allowing 3.24 goals and 11.88 high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes.

Jason Spezza, DAL vs. FLA ($3,900): Since watching from the press box Jan. 15, Spezza has two goals, two assists and two multi-point showings through three games. He's also shown an uptick in shot volume with nine and continues to skate on the No. 1 power-play unit. Spezza checks out as a low-priced option with the Panthers sporting an 8-13-3 record and minus-17 goal differential on the road.

WING

Vladimir Tarasenko, STL vs. OTT ($7,300): This is a soft matchup for Tarasenko, as Ottawa has just two road wins since its tailspin began in mid-November. The Russian winger has recorded 11 goals, 25 points and 105 shots through 25 home games this season, and the Sens are allowing 3.54 goals and 14.04 high-danger scoring chances per hour through their past 16 away contests.

Max Pacioretty, MON vs. COL ($6,100): This is a manageable salary for the surging winger. Pacioretty is notoriously streaky, so with seven goals and nine points through his past eight outings, it appears his early-season scoring struggles are beginning to be a thing of the past. His 8.4 shooting percentage still has positive regression ahead, too. As noted, this should also prove to be a tough schedule spot for the Avs.

Tyler Bertuzzi, DET vs. PHI ($3,700): The rookie has found a groove in a top-six role alongside Dylan Larkin and Andreas Athanasiou, as Bertuzzi has collected two goals, six points and 15 shots through his past six contests. The salary opens up cap room to spend elsewhere, and the inconsistent Flyers are far from a daunting matchup.

DEFENSE

John Klingberg, DAL vs. FLA ($6,300): Up to 19 points, 36 shots and 16 blocked shots through his past 14 games, Klingberg's becoming difficult to fade. This price isn't prohibitive enough, and he's locked into a go-to offensive role for a high-scoring team. The Swede has also been better on home ice this season with 27 points through 23 contests, and as noted, the Panthers haven't been strong on the road.

Ryan McDonagh, NYR at ANA ($4,800): With Kevin Shattenkirk (knee) out of action, McDonagh saw his power-play time climb to 4:30 last time out. Now that the Blueshirt captain projects to see increased offensive looks, his value is trending up. After all, he recorded a bounce-back, 42-point season last year in the go-to role. Just note that a road date against Anaheim makes McDonagh more of a contrarian option.
