FanDuel NHL: Wednesday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

Goalie

Semyon Varlamov, COL vs MTL ($7,600): Varlamov has made three appearances since returning from a groin injury that kept him sidelined for about a month. The Russian netminder draws a favorable matchup against the Canadiens, who average just 2.58 goals per game, which ranks 28th in the league. Varlamov has seen an average of 30.72 shots on goal per game this year while Montreal average 33.8 SOG per contest. The Avalanche are 19-7-1 at home while the Canadiens have struggled away from the Bell Centre with an 8-16-1 record.

Center

Pierre-Luc Dubois, CLS at TOR ($5,900): Dubois comes in with a goal in each of his last three games, one of which came on the power play. In those three contests, Dubois has averaged 3.66 shots on goal skating on the first line with Cam Atkinson and Artemi Panarin. Toronto has allowed 14 goals and 18 assists to centers over its last 13 games, giving a streaking Dubois a good opportunity to produce.

Nazem Kadri, TOR vs CLS ($6,100): In a spot where Auston Matthews will be a popular option, Kadri is an intriguing pivot off the young superstar at a $2,200 discount and potentially lower ownership. Over his last nine games, the Ontario native has four goals, six assists, and 2.88 shots on goal. Kadri has 35 points on the campaign, 12 of which have come on the power play, making him a potentially valuable asset Wednesday, as Columbus has the 27th ranked penalty kill.

Wing

Alex Galchenyuk, MTL at COL ($5,500): The third overall pick in the 2012 draft has four points in his last four games and sets up well against the Avalanche on Wednesday. The Avalanche have allowed the second-most fantasy points to left wingers over the last month and 13 goals over the last three games. Galchenyuk has been especially effective on the power play, scoring 16 of his 22 points there.

Evgenii Dadonov FLA at VAN ($5,100): With three points over his last four games and an average of four shots on goal per contest over that span, Dadonov is still underpriced considering his matchup and ice time. On the campaign, he has 33 points — 13 goals — in 45 games, with nine of his points coming on the power play. Averaging 3:21 with the man advantage is a plus against Vancouver and its 25th-ranked penalty kill.

Zach Hyman, TOR vs CLS ($5,100): Hyman benefits from skating on the Leafs' top line with Auston Matthews and William Nylander as the grinder. He's buried 11 goals and dished out 19 assists and sticks out as a value Wednesday against Columbus playing in their its second game in as many nights.

Defense

Jeff Petry, MTL at COL ($4,700): It's hard to pass up on the value of Petry on the blue line on a slate where paying up for some of the stars at other positions is imperative. The eighth-year NHLer has three goals, an assist, 12 shots on net and 13 blocks over his last four contests. The Avalanche have allowed four goals and 31 points over the last four weeks (12 games).

Jake Gardiner, TOR vs CLS ($5,100): With two points in his last outing, Gardiner now has four goals and 31 assists (seventh among defensemen) is 58 games. The seventh-year NHLer has recorded a point in four straight games (one goal and five assists) against the Blue Jackets. With 15 points in his last 12 games, Gardiner is worth a look as the seventh highest-priced defenseman.
