FantasyDraft NHL: Sunday Values

FantasyDraft NHL: Sunday Values

This article is part of our FantasyDraft NHL series.

Sunday has four afternoon games that are excluded for daily fantasy purposes on FantasyDraft. Instead, you will have to pick your lineup out of three evening contests. Here are the NHL players I would recommend giving a good look.

GOALIE

San Jose Sharks, SAN vs. CLM ($16,200): The Sharks are 19-9-3 at home while the Blue Jackets are 13-17-3 on the road. Columbus has also only scored 2.55 goals per game. San Jose, on the other hand, has only allowed 29.1 shots on net per contest.

CENTER

Mark Scheifele, WPG at CAR ($14,800): Since returning from injury, Scheifele has six goals and seven assists in 10 games. On the season, he's averaged 3:18 per game on the power play, and he's notched 16 points with the extra man through 48 contests. The Hurricanes have a 2.95 GAA, which is the highest of any team in action Sunday.

Mikko Koivu, MIN vs. DET ($10,400): Koivu has notched a goal in three straight games. The Red Wings have a 2.94 GAA, but the situation is bleaker without Petr Mrazek. Over his last 14 outings, expected starting goalie Jimmy Howard has a 3.13 GAA and a .902 save percentage.

WING

Evander Kane, SAN vs. CLM ($13,600): Since joining the Sharks, Kane has three points in two games. He's also started 64.7 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, which is the highest on San Jose in an admittedly small sample size. The Blue Jackets have a 3.15 GAA on the road, and on top of that, they have the 27th-ranked penalty kill overall.

Mikael Granlund, MIN vs. DET ($13,300): Granlund has picked up the pace recently, notching 10 points and 26 shots on goal over his last six games. He's also tallied 18 power-play points through 60 contests. As previously noted, Howard has a 3.13 GAA and a .902 save percentage over his last 12 games. Backup Jared Coreau hasn't played in a game yet for Detroit this season, so Howard will very likely be in net.

Zach Parise, MIN vs. DET ($10,300): Parise has a point in three straight games and four points in his last five contests. He also only has a 5.7 shooting percentage through 26 games, which would be the lowest of his career if it doesn't improve. Detroit has a 3.00 GAA and allowed 33.0 shots on net on the road. The Red Wings also have the 23rd-ranked penalty kill.

DEFENSEMEN

Dustin Byfuglien, WPG at CAR ($12,000): Byfuglien has at least one point in seven of his last eight games, and he has 12 points overall in those contests. Four of those points have come with the extra man, giving Big Buff 17 power-play points in 52 games. Carolina has a 2.95 GAA and an .897 save percentage. The Hurricanes are one of three teams with a save percentage below .900.

Ryan Suter, MIN vs. DET ($10,800): Suter has 43 points, 19 on the power play and 136 shots on net this season. Though he hasn't scored a goal in a while, he has 15 assists in his last 21 games, including 10 with the extra man. As previously noted, the Red Wings have the 23rd-ranked penalty kill, but on the road, they rank 27th.
