DraftKings NHL: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Antti Raanta, ARI at BUF ($7,700): With Buffalo generating just 9.81 high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes since the beginning of February, this checks out as a favorable matchup for Raanta. The first-year Coyote has won four of his past five games with a 1.61 GAA and .950 save percentage, and Raanta's salary doesn't break the bank. Darcy Kuemper ($7,500) also stands as a solid pivot, if he receives the starting nod against the Sabres.

CENTER

Ryan Getzlaf, ANA at CGY ($7,000): It's easy to overreact to narratives, but Getzlaf putting the Ducks on his back is becoming a late-season tradition. He's marked the scoresheet in seven of the past eight games for 12 points while averaging 21:35 of ice time (2:22 on the power play). Calgary has played its way out of the playoffs and allowed 16 goals through its past three games, too.

Derek Stepan, ARI at BUF ($5,600): The veteran is in the midst of a solid offensive run with 17 points and 50 shots through his past 20 games. Stepan is averaging 18:25 of ice time per contest (2:23 with the man advantage) during that stretch, and this checks out as a favorable matchup against Buffalo. The Sabres have surrendered 12 goals through their past three home games and 3.09 per 60 minutes since Feb. 1.

WING

Phil Kessel, PIT vs. MON ($6,600): There should be soft five-on-five matchups for Kessel against the injury-depleted Habs, and his role on the No. 1 power-play heightens both his fantasy floor and ceiling. The veteran winger also enters in strong form with five goals, nine assists and 31 shots through his past 12 contests.

Alexander Steen, STL vs. BOS ($4,700): With Vladimir Tarasenko (upper body) doubtful to suit up against the Bruins, Steen is expected to slot into a top offensive role and skate with Jaden Schwartz and Brayden Schenn in all situations. It's a cushy setup with Schwartz and Schenn combining for 4.24 goals per 60 minutes. Additionally, the Bruins are dealing with a slew of injuries and have surrendered three goals or more in four of their past five games.

Ryan Donato, BOS at STL ($4,100): The rookie put the league on notice with a three-point debut, and the showing should have him locked into a top-six role with power-play time until the Bruins have some regulars return from injury. While the a matchup against the Blues isn't a cakewalk, Donato's salary opens up plenty of spending room, and his 47 goals and 36 assists through 65 games at Harvard the past two seasons affirm his offensive upside.

DEFENSE

Kris Letang, PIT vs. MON ($5,900): It's been a bit of a down season overall for Letang, but he's been a more consistent scorer of late with three goals, 10 points and 42 shots through his past 16 contests. Additionally, this checks out as a favorable matchup for Pittsburgh with Montreal dealing with multiple injuries and winners of just a single road game since the All-Star break. The Habs have allowed the second most goals per 60 minutes (3.75) away from the Bell Centre during that span, too.

Cam Fowler, ANA at CGY ($5,200): The minute-eating blueliner picked up an assist last time out to snap a six-game point drought, and with a favorable matchup against the Flames, look for Fowler to have another solid showing. He's logged over 25 minutes in each of the past five games and skates with the No. 1 power-play unit, so he offers a target-worthy floor with upside.
