DraftKings NHL: Friday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Linus Ullmark, BUF vs. MON ($7,300): The 24-year-old Swede is a complete wildcard, but this is a cushy matchup. Not only is Montreal riddled with injuries, the Canadiens have just a single win while scoring only 1.92 goals per 60 minutes through 15 road games since the All-Star break. With plenty of star power to target in the skater pool, Ullmark checks out as an upside source of cap relief. Just note that he's also far from a sure thing.

CENTER

Tyler Seguin, DAL vs. BOS ($7,100): With three goals, five points and 20 shots through his past four games, Seguin finished Dallas' recent road trip in strong form. The Stars are in a must-win spot with their playoff hopes dwindling, so look for Seguin to build on his elite 1.97 goals and 3.54 points per 60 minutes at home this season. Boston should also prove to be a vulnerable opponent with its injury-depleted lineup.

Nico Hischier, NJD at PIT ($4,500): While the Pens pace the league in goals per game since the All-Star break, they're also allowing 3.06 against per 60 minutes. With Hischier expected to skate with Taylor Hall and Kyle Palmieri in all situations, the rookie's salary is an attractive value. The trio has combined for 4.76 goals per hour this season, after all.

WING

Phil Kessel, PIT vs. NJD ($6,900): With a third-line role at five-on-five, Kessel often finds soft on-ice matchups at even strength, and his role on the No. 1 power-play unit boosts both his fantasy floor and ceiling. He's also marked the scoresheet in 11 of his past 13 games for five tallies and 11 helpers, which has Kessel up to a seven-ranked 3.55 points per 60 minutes among NHL regulars.

Bryan Little, WPG vs. ANA ($4,900): Offense has been hit or miss of late from Little, but he does have a goal and two assists through his past three games and is expected to skate with Paul Stastny and Nikolaj Ehlers in a promising assignment. While Anaheim is cruising along a four-game winning streak with just four goals allowed, Little still carries contrarian value in the tape-measuring matchup at Bell MTS Place.

Jason Pominville, BUF vs. MON ($3,300): Projected to skate with Jack Eichel on the second line, Pominville is a low-priced option to consider. The veteran's recorded 16 shots through his past five games, and before a recent scoring skid, he collected two goals and five assists through a seven-game stretch. There's modest upside in the soft matchup against Montreal, and Pominville's ownership should also be low. He's connected with Eichel for a respectable 3.49 goals per 60 minutes at even strength, too.

DEFENSE

John Klingberg, DAL vs. BOS ($5,300): As noted, this is a must-win game for the Stars, and home ice has been a boon for Klingberg. The defenseman sports a fourth-ranked 2.07 points per 60 minutes among regular blueliners for the campaign, and that mark climbs to 2.41 at the American Airlines Center. This salary is egregiously low, too.

Sami Vatanen, NJD at PIT ($5,000): The Finn has been a strong contributor over the past month-plus with two goals, 14 assists, 40 shots and 27 blocked shots through his past 19 games. Additionally, among all defensemen with at least 400 minutes during that stretch, Vatanen's 2.08 points per 60 minute rank seventh. Even with his manageable salary, there's potential he flies under the radar.
