DraftKings NHL: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Braden Holtby, WAS vs. NYR ($8,400): With Philipp Grubauer playing well, Holtby's job heading into the playoffs might be in jeopardy for the first time in years. This should set up as a winnable game for a motivated Holtby, though. The Rangers are 8-15-3 with just 2.59 goals per 60 minutes since the beginning of February. Additionally, Washington can also all but seal the Metropolitan Division with a victory.

CENTER

Nicklas Backstrom, WAS vs. NYR ($6,400): Sticking with the Caps, Backstrom has been a force of late with three goals, 11 assists and 23 shots through his past nine contests. He's also averaged 3:29 of power-play time per contest and recorded 24 pints with the man advantage for the campaign. The Blueshirts are allowing 3.54 goals and 13.33 high-danger scoring chances per hour dating back to Feb. 1, too.

Sean Couturier, PHI at COL ($6,200): The 25-year-old center continues to frequent the scoresheet with two goals, six assists and 21 shots through his past eight games. Couturier has also logged a hefty 22:08 of ice time (3:06 with the man advantage), which boosts his fantasy floor.

WING

Mitch Marner, TOR vs. FLA ($5,900): Considering Marner is sporting a nine-game point streak and has found the scoresheet in 20 of 25 games since the All-Star break, this salary looks low. The sophomore has 13 tallies, 18 helpers and 70 shots with an elite 4.25 points per 60 minutes during the surge. This also sets up as a bounce-back showing for Toronto after an embarrassing home loss to Buffalo last time out.

Gabriel Landeskog, COL vs. PHI ($5,700): The Flyers are playing their second road game in consecutive nights, so the Avs should have a leg up. Landeskog has failed to register a point in three of his past four contests despite logging top minutes alongside Nathan MacKinnon. Considering the duo has combined for 5.8 goals per 60 minutes this season, Landeskog is a strong lean to snap his current scoring skid.

Tomas Tatar, VGK vs. ARI ($4,600): Skating on the No. 1 line with William Karlsson and Jonathan Marchessault should prove to be a great fit for the Czech. Additionally, the Coyotes are suiting up for their fifth contest of a six-game road trip and are ripe for a letdown after topping Tampa Bay on Monday. Tatar checks out as a solid value.

DEFENSE

Tyson Barrie, COL vs. PHI ($5,500): With an elite 2.24 points per 60 minutes this season, Barrie's salary is short with the noted favorable schedule spot against Philadelphia. Additionally, after recording an 11-game point streak consisting of six goals, nine assists and 38 shots, he's now missed the scoresheet in three consecutive contests. Look for a return to form from Barrie.

Matt Niskanen, WAS vs. NYR ($3,900): In a shallow defense pool, Niskanen stands out as a high-floor option with some upside. As highlighted, this is a soft matchup for the Caps, and he's collected five points, 14 shots and 22 blocked shots while logging 23:39 of ice time through his past nine outings.
