DraftKings NHL: Wednesday Playoff Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Andrei Vasilevskiy, TB at NJD ($8,100): After fading down the stretch in the regular season, Vasilevskiy has quieted any doubters by winning two of his three playoff starts with a .930 save percentage. While the Devils pulled off a Game 3 upset, Tampa Bay is a big favorite to head back to Amalie Arena with a 3-1 series lead, and New Jersey has also generated the second fewest high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes in the playoffs.

CENTER

Evgeni Malkin, PIT at PHI ($7,500): If Sean Couturier (lower body) is unable to suit up or plays at less than 100 percent, it's a huge blow to the Flyers. He's been the straw that stirs the drink all year, and it should soften a lot of Malkin's five-on-five matchups. Game 3 was No. 71's best showing in the postseason, and he's also now up to 160 points -- 60 goals -- through 152 career playoff games.

Ryan Getzlaf, ANA at SJ ($5,300): With a salary drop of $1,600 since the playoffs began, Getzlaf jumps out as a huge value. The veteran has recorded an assist in each of the past two outings, and after taking 16 PIM in Game 3, it would be shocking if he wasn't one of the best players on the ice with the season on the line. There isn't another center in the player pool with a similar top offensive role in Getzlaf's price range, either.

WING

Phil Kessel, PIT at PHI ($6,500): With just a single assist through the first three games of Round 1, look for Kessel to kick his scoring funk Wednesday. As noted, the Flyers could be in trouble without Sean Couturier (lower body), and Kessel has also been reunited with Evgeni Malkin at even strength. The duo combined for an elite 5.74 goals per 60 minutes during the regular season.

Mikko Rantanen, COL vs. NAS ($5,300): This is another short price to take a look at. Rantanen has recorded three assists through the first three games of the series and probably had the most unrecognized point-per-game sophomore campaigns in years. He's locked into a top offensive role alongside Nathan MacKinnon in all situations, and the pair connected for 5.31 goals per hour during the regular season -- that mark has climbed to 6.17 in the playoffs.

Tomas Hertl, SJ vs. ANA ($4,900): The Czech has found the scoresheet in all three games of the series and recorded 12 shots. He's skating in a top-six role and receiving power-play time on the No. 1 unit, and Hertl's also been on the ice for an incredible 28.52 high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes in the playoffs. It wouldn't be shocking if the Ducks have their best game of the series, but Hertl's current form and salary are hard to overlook.

DEFENSE

Justin Schultz, PIT at PHI ($4,800): The power-play quarterback is a screaming value. Schultz has provided an excellent fantasy return all series with a goal, two assists, 11 shots and five blocked shots while averaging 6:17 of ice time with the man advantage. He's also a potential cost-effective option in a Pittsburgh stack.

Ryan McDonagh, TB at NJD ($4,500): The lack of power-play time is built into McDonagh's salary, and he's still managed to move the needle with three assists, seven shots and five blocked shots at even strength through the first three games of Round 1. His primary five-on-five matchup against Taylor Hall's line should keep his ownership down, so McDonagh offers a target-worthy floor with sneaky contrarian upside.
