Yahoo DFS Hockey: Sunday Playoff Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Hockey series.

Sunday's NHL slate features a pair of Game 6s beginning at 3:00 PM Eastern time. We've had extensive looks at most of the guys involved, but some still stand out as value plays to target or options to avoid. Read on to see which players fall into which category.

GOALIE

Andrew Hammond, COL vs. NSH ($29): This choice carries plenty of risk, but it's hard not to give Hammond a look after he allowed just one goal on 45 shots to steal Game 5 on the road. The man nicknamed "The Hamburglar" is no stranger to taking the NHL by storm, as evidenced by his 20-1-2 record, 1.79 GAA and .941 save percentage with Ottawa in 2014-15 -- a run that earned him free McDonald's hamburgers for life in that neck of the woods. This could be the start of another such magical run, so the upside is certainly there at $29.

GOALIE TO AVOID

Matt Murray, PIT at PHI ($33): When Murray's struggled in this series, he's been absolutely awful, combining for just 0.6 fantasy points between Games 2 and 5. While Murray's been dominant on the road in this series, you have to figure a Flyers team that's still facing elimination will be better than the lackluster squad that allowed itself to be outscored 10-1 in its own building between Games 3 and 4.

CENTER

Colton Sissons, NSH at COL ($13): Sissons was kept off the scoresheet for the first time all series in Game 5, but his history of recent postseason success suggests that setback shouldn't keep owners from looking right back in the affordable forward's direction this time around. In 27 playoff games dating back to last season, Sissons has racked up nine goals and 17 points.

CENTER TO AVOID

Sean Couturier, PHI vs. PIT ($21): Couturier scored the game-winning goal in his return to the lineup in Game 5, but he skated only 16:55 and is clearly still bothered by the knee injury that kept him out of the previous contest. It's tough to justify pouring $21 into such a compromised player, especially when he's facing an explosive Penguins offense capable of delivering devastating damage in the rating department.

WINGS

Gabriel Landeskog, COL vs. NSH ($20): Landeskog has lit the lamp in each of his last four games, totaling seven points over that span. He also has three goals and seven points over his past three home appearances dating back to the regular season, so all signs points to another productive outing from Colorado's captain in this must-win affair.

Jake Guentzel, PIT at PHI ($21): Guentzel's a solid alternative for owners who can't quite afford Pittsburgh's top guys, as he's having a fantastic series while skating on the top line alongside Sidney Crosby. Through five games, Guentzel's racked up two goals, six assists and an average of 11.4 fantasy points per contest. His 15 goals and 29 points in 30 career playoff games suggest this production is no fluke.

WINGS TO AVOID

Craig Smith, NSH at COL ($20): Smith has struggled to live up to his $20 valuation in this series, failing to crack double-digit fantasy points in any game while averaging just 4.5. With many of his cheaper teammates outperforming him, there's little reason to look Smith's way at the moment.

Travis Konecny, PHI vs. PIT ($17): Nothing about Konecny's role or production in this series suggests owners should be paying even close to $17 for him. He's averaging just 13:02 of ice time per game while never skating more than 14:39 in this series, and he hasn't exactly earned any more with a paltry average of 1.9 fantasy points per contest.

DEFENSEMEN

Mark Barberio, COL vs. NSH ($16): Barberio's been rock-solid in an extensive role over the past three games, averaging 8.0 fantasy points per game while recording at least 22 minutes of ice time in each. He's accomplished all that while racking up only one assist, bolstering his value with nine shots, eight blocks and a plus-2 rating over those three contests. This recent success seems to be very sustainable, especially since Barberio's two best efforts in this series have come in Colorado's two home games.

Brian Dumoulin, PIT at PHI ($16): Dumoulin's coming off his worst performance of the playoffs, but his ability to provide value by piggybacking off Pittsburgh's bigger offensive threats still makes him a strong play for owners who don't want to pay up for Kris Letang ($23) or Justin Schultz ($20). The $16 defenseman has easily outperformed expectations with an average of 8.6 fantasy points in 22 minutes per game thus far in this series.

DEFENSEMEN TO AVOID

P.K. Subban, NSH at COL ($23): Not only did Subban help set up Colorado's game-winning goal in Game 5 with a bad pinch, but he also finished with 1.6 or fewer fantasy points for the third time in this series. An Avalanche penalty kill that ranked fourth at 83.3 percent in the regular season has kept Subban from adding to his season total of 25 power-play points, and he's struggled to generate value elsewhere without that facet of his game.

Shayne Gostisbehere, PHI vs. PIT ($23): The Flyers appear to have realized that Gostisbehere's shortcomings in his own zone are too great to trust him against this opponent, which is why he was limited to just 15:00 of ice time in Friday's Game 5 victory -- his lowest total since Oct. 28. He's averaging just 2.1 fantasy points per game in this series, so there's little reason to expect coach Dave Hakstol to bump Gostisbehere's time back up with the season once again hanging in the balance.
