RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Taurasi dropped 25 points (8-23 FG, 3-13 3Pt, 6-7 FT), four rebounds, three assists and one steal in Sunday's 72-66 win over Las Vegas.

It's hard to make of Taurasi's performance Sunday as she struggled mightily from behind the arc, going just three-of-13 from deep, but managed to lead the Mercury in scoring with 25 points. Second on the team with 19.4 points per outing, the 6-0, UConn product has scored safely above the 20-point mark six times in 10 games this year.

June 2, 2018

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Taurasi totaled 29 points (11-19 FG, 5-13 3Pt, 2-3 FT), six assists, four rebounds, one steal and one block during Friday's 95-85 win over Minnesota.

Taurasi's 29 points Friday was a new season high, as she managed to convert 57.9 percent of attempts overall despite shooting just 38.5 percent from the three-point line. The 36-year-old also accomplished what she does best, making at least one contribution in every major statistical category. Through the first six games in 2018, Taurasi is averaging just over 18 points and three assists per game.

May 24, 2018

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Taurasi provided 23 points (8-15 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 3-3 FT), two rebounds and two assists during Wednesday's 87-71 loss to the Storm.

This time around against the Storm, Taurasi was able to score past the 20-point mark on 53.3 percent shooting. In three games so far, the 36-year-old is averaging just over 20 points and three rebounds per game while also going 100 percent from the free-throw line (14-14 FT).

May 22, 2018

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Taurasi provided 12 points (3-8 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT), five rebounds and one assist in the Mercury's 87-82 win at Seattle on Sunday.

The Storm relatively kept Taurasi in check during Sunday's contest as she only managed 12 points on 37.5 percent shooting. The Mercury hosts Seattle again on Wednesday and with Brittney Griner dropping 29 points on the Storm last Sunday, the Storm may shift their focus to shut down the 6-9 beast which may open up scoring opportunities for Taurasi.

May 19, 2018

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Taurasi totaled 26 points (7-16 FG, 5-8 3Pt, 7-7 FT), two rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in Friday's 86-78 victory over the Wings.

Taurasi had a terrific season-opening performance Friday as she shot 43.8 percent overall from the floor and 62.5 percent from the three-point line which was good enough to lead all in-game scorers. The 13-year veteran also tallied at least one mark in every major statistical category as she continues to provide other contributions than scoring. Taurasi will look to keep it going when the Mercury travels to Seattle on Sunday.

May 14, 2018

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Taurasi totaled nine points (2-8 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 4-6 FT), four rebounds and two assists during the Mercury's 81-64 preseason loss to the Storm on Saturday.

Taurasi had a rough shooting performance Saturday as she shot a mere 25 percent from the floor and 20 percent from three-point range. At 35 years old, the veteran has averaged more than 17.8 points per game the last two seasons and bearing any major interference, it's likely that Taurasi can produce similar stats in 2018.

September 15, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Taurasi totaled 21 points (7-14 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 5-5 FT), five rebounds, four assists and one steal across 33 minutes during Thursday's 86-72 loss to the Sparks.

Taurasi certainly bounced back from a miserable Game 1, where she made just two field goals en route to six points. She looked more like her usual self Thursday, as she owns a career playoff average of over 20 points per game. That said, she still may need to somehow step up her game more and/or get help from her teammates, as the Mercury now find themselves down 2-0 in the best of five series.

September 13, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Taurasi tallied six points (2-10 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 2-5 FT), three assists and two rebounds across 33 minutes during Tuesday's 79-66 loss to the Sparks.

Tuesday's performance was unexpected, as Taurasi had made easy work of the Sparks during the regular season, averaging 23.0 points on 46.9 percent shooting over the teams' two matchups. Taurasi also averages 20.8 points per game in the playoffs on her career, so Tuesday's game certainly marked one of her worst playoff efforts ever. That shouldn't necessarily scare off DFS players, however, as the performance can likely be chalked up to an outlier.

September 11, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Taurasi posted 23 points (9-18 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 3-6 FT), two rebounds, four assists and one turnover across 33 minutes during Sunday's 88-83 win over the Sun in the second round of the playoffs.

The Mercury's outstanding duo of Taurasi and Brittney Griner led the team to a comeback win, finishing with 23 and 26 points, respectively. It was Taurasi's second solid outing in the playoffs, now averaging 18.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists across 29.5 minutes during that span. The 13-year WNBA veteran should continue to lead the Mercury in their quest to make the Finals, with a best of five set starting against the Sparks on Tuesday.

September 5, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Taurasi tallied nine points (3-12 FG, 2-10 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three rebounds, three assists and one block across 27 minutes during Sunday's 84-70 victory over the Dream.

Taurasi didn't finish the regular season strongly, as she shot just 34.5 percent from the field and 32.3 percent from three over the past five contests en route to 10.8 points across 25.2 minutes per game. Overall, however, she had another impressive regular season, dropping 17.9 points per game on 38.4 percent from beyond the arc. She'll look to bounce back during the postseason.

August 29, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Taurasi tallied 18 points (5-13 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 5-5 FT), six rebounds and one assist across 30 minutes during Sunday's 75-71 victory over the Storm.

Taurasi was given Thursday's game off to rest, as she had totaled just 12 points over the two prior contests. The time off seemed to rejuvenate her play, as she essentially reached her season average in points (18.3) while surpassing her average in rebounds (2.9). Overall, she's one of the best scoring options available to deploy in DFS, ranking seventh in the WNBA in points per contest.

August 27, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Taurasi (rest) will play in Sunday's game against the Storm.

Taurasi sat out Thursday's contest against the Sparks to rest, as the veteran was given some time off after a rocky couple of games. Having now been off since Tuesday, Taurasi will likely return to a full workload Sunday night.

August 24, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Taurasi will not play during Thursday's game against the Sparks for rest purposes, ESPN.com reports.

Taurasi had been on a bumpy two-game stretch prior to Thursday's affair, so it seems the team will opt to give her some rest in hopes she can come out fresher for their next matchup. As a result of her absence, Danielle Robinson, Leilani Mitchell and Stephanie Talbot could all see additional touches.

August 23, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Taurasi finished with five points (2-4 FG, 1-2 3Pt), one assist and one rebound across 17 minutes during Tuesday's 105-69 loss to the Lynx.

Taurasi has hit a bumpy stretch, posting just a combined 12 points on 5-of-15 shooting over the past two games. While a two-game stretch is a small sample size and shouldn't be a massive cause for concern, it's the first time all season that Taurasi has scored in single-digits over back-to-back appearances. The situation is certainly worth monitoring, though it seems safe to say that when the season is said and done, this may just be looked back at as an outlier.

August 19, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Taurasi finished with 25 points (8-14 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 6-8 FT), three rebounds, one assist and one steal across 31 minutes during Friday's 89-79 victory over the Mystics.

Taurasi has been great over the two games since Brittany Griner's return from injury, posting a combined 45 points on 14-of-25 shooting. Griner's presence certainly helps take some of the scoring pressure of Taurasi. Overall, Taurasi should continue to be a legitimate consideration each night the Mercury take the floor considering her averages of 19.3 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists across 29.1 minutes per game.

August 14, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Taurasi tallied 20 points (6-11 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 4-4 FT), four rebounds, four assists and three turnovers across 28 minutes during Saturday's 98-89 loss to the Storm.

With Britney Griner returning from a knee injury for the first time over the last eight games, Taurasi finally had the pressure lifted off her back. She didn't take nearly the amount of shot attempts that she has in recent contests, but Taurasi was still extremely effective with those that she did. She shot just over 54 percent from the field and 50 percent from the three-point line, giving her a team-high 20 points. Even with Griner back, Taurasi is still one of the most electric scorers in the league with a season average of 19.1 points per game, which is good enough for fifth in the WNBA.

August 11, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Taurasi finished with 16 points (5-16 FG, 2-9 3Pt, 4-4 FT), seven assists, three blocks and two rebounds across 36 minutes during Thursday's 101-100 overtime victory over the Wings.

Not normally much of a distributor or defender, Taurasi exceeded expectations as both Thursday. She shouldn't be expected to produce in such fashion on a regular basis, though considering her usage within the Mercury's gameplan, it's bound to happen on occasion. Overall, with her averages of 19.0 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game, Taurasi should be considered in DFS every night the Mercury take the floor.

August 7, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Taurasi finished Sunday's 80-85 loss to the Mystics with 16 points (5-16 FG, 3-10 3Pt, 3-3 FT), three rebounds, four assists and one turnover across 26 minutes.

After blowing up for 33 points on Friday, Taurasi cooled off a bit, shooting just 31 percent from the field and 30 percent from the three-point line. She still scored 16 points on a team-high 16 shot attempts and Taurasi should continue to take on the bulk of the work offensively considering Brittney Griner is still out with an ankle injury. Look for Taurasi to continue to demand the ball at an even higher rate until Griner is back, making her an intriguing fantasy option.

August 5, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Taurasi tallied 33 points (12-18 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 5-5 FT), one assist, one rebound, one steal and one block across 30 minutes during Friday's 93-92 loss to the Sun.

Taurasi, who played her college ball at Connecticut, returned to her collegiate state on fire, drilling four threes en route to 33 points. She had been on a two-game slump prior to Friday, posting a combined 22 points on 6-of-17 shooting. All in all, she continues to be one of the best fantasy options available, posting 19.3 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists across 29.0 minutes per game.

August 1, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Taurasi tallied 13 points (4-9 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six rebounds, three assists and one steal across 24 minutes during Sunday's 81-64 blowout win over the Stars.

Taurasi played well, but was ultimately given the early yank due to the blowout nature of the game. She did manage to surpass her season averages in rebounds (2.9), assists (2.7) and steals (0.5) before taking a seat, however, providing salvageable value for those who deployed her in DFS.

July 29, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Taurasi tallied nine points (2-8 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 5-5 FT), four assists and three rebounds across 29 minutes during Friday's 86-80 victory over the Sky.

Taurasi scored in single digits for just the second time all year -- the first time coming during the first game of the season, when she managed just three points on 1-for-11 shooting. While those who deployed her in DFS are likely disappointed, Friday was an outlier for the WNBA veteran. There's seemingly no reason to believe she won't bounce back during the Mercury's next outings.

July 26, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Taurasi tallied 31 points (10-23 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 8-8 FT), six rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block across 34 minutes during Tuesday's 99-91 loss to the Dream.

Taurasi -- who has been tasked with carrying a significant scoring load since Brittany Griner's (ankle, knee) injuries -- has stepped up, dropping a total of 65 points over the past two games. In addition to her scoring, Taurasi also matched her season-high six rebounds and set a season-high three combined steals and blocks. Overall, while Taurasi doesn't usually provide much fantasy value by the way of supplementary statistics, Griner's injuries have made Taurasi the clear number one option in the Mercury's offense. As a result, it seems quite possible that she'll eclipse her average of 19.5 PPG for the remainder of Griner's absence, making her a DFS option to consider on every night Phoenix rolls the ball out.

July 22, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Taurasi, at the All-Star break, is posting 18.8 points, 2.6 assists and 2.5 rebounds across 28.9 minutes per game.

Taurasi continues to be one of the best scorers in the WNBA -- her 26.1 points per 40 minutes ranking third in the league for all players with at least 10 appearances this season. While she doesn't provide much in the way of supplementary statistics, Taurasi's marksmanship from beyond the arc (40.3 percent) ensures she's always in the running for impressive performances. Overall, she's one of the better backcourt options available in DFS.

July 19, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Taurasi recorded a season-high 34 points (9-20 FG, 6-12 3Pt, 10-11 FT), three assists and two rebounds across 33 minutes during Wednesday's 84-77 loss to the Fever.

After getting Sunday's game off for rest, Taurasi caught fire Wednesday, scorching the Fever for a season-high 34 points. She got buckets in nearly every way possible, six of her nine field goals coming from three in addition to her 10 free throws. With the Mercury's star center Brittany Griner (ankle, knee) out until around early August, Taurasi will probably have to continue carrying the scoring load for the team until Griner's return, making her prime option in DFS.

July 19, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Taurasi (undisclosed) is in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Fever.

Taurasi was given the night off for rest on Sunday against the Lynx, but will rejoin the lineup ahead of Wednesday's tilt with the Fever. She'll instantly jump in as one of the best scorers in the league and her season averages of 17.9 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists across 28.7 minutes makes her a solid fantasy option for Wednesday's contest.

July 16, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Taurasi (undisclosed) will sit out Sunday's game against the Lynx.

Taurasi reportedly didn't even travel with the team, but it remains unclear if she's dealing with some sort of injury or a personal matter. Her next opportunity to see the court will be Wednesday against the Fever, but another update should be available later this week. With Taurasi out, more opportunities should be available for the likes of Danielle Robinson and Leilani Mitchell in the backcourt.

July 13, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Taurasi provided 20 points (7-15 FG, 6-12 3Pt), three rebounds and one assist across 30 minutes during Wednesday's 89-84 victory over the Dream.

Taurasi continues to be one of the best scorers in the WNBA, with her 18.2 points per game currently landing her at seventh on the leaderboards. She was hot from distance Wednesday, putting home six threes for the first time since June 23's victory over the Storm. Taurasi is having a career year from beyond the arc -- her 41.1 percent success rate being the highest she's ever achieved in the league. Overall, it's hard to go wrong when considering Taurasi in DFS due to her consistent scoring and workload. Though, her lack of supplementary stats like assists (2.6) and rebounds (2.5) makes her floor low if she's struggling from the field.

Wednesday's performance was the third time this season that Taurasi shot worse than 25 percent from the field. Luckily for the veteran, she's been strong enough at making threes and getting to the free throw line this season to make up for some of those bad shooting nights. While the Mercury's offensive game plan ended up being to feed center Brittney Griner as much as possible, which led her to finish with 32 points, Taurasi still managed to perform admirably after a disappointing season opener where she shot 1-of-11 from the field. While Taurasi is in her 13th WNBA season and likely on the tail-end of her career, she's still been a consistent double-digit scorer throughout her time in the league. Look for Taurasi to become a more reliable fantasy option as she continues to find her offensive groove this season.
