Kayla McBride: Past News Updates   ( ▲ View most recent update )

June 5, 2018

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McBride had 18 points (6-11 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 5-6 FT), four rebounds, four assists and one steal in Sunday's 95-90 loss to the Sky.

McBride's 18-point outing Sunday was good enough for third on the team, as she managed an effective five-of-six shooting performance from the free-throw line. Since her season-opening suspension, the 26-year-old guard has played in the last four games and is currently averaging just over 14 points and three rebounds per game.

May 23, 2018

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McBride was activated from her suspension Wednesday, High Post Hoops reports.

McBride was temporarily suspended as she finished up her season in Turkey, but it appears she's ready to rejoin her Las Vegas teammates. She averaged 15.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.1 steals per contest during 2017 and will likely slot into the starting five Sunday against the Storm.

May 18, 2018

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McBride is temporarily suspended while she finishes up her season with Yakin Dogu in Turkey, Sam Gordon of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.

It's unclear exactly when McBride will be making her return back to the United States, but the Aces will temporarily be without one of their top scorers from last seasons' Stars team. Teammate Kelsey Plum also remains overseas while finishing up her season in Turkey.

February 28, 2018

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McBride re-signed with the Aces on Wednesday.

McBride had yet another strong campaign in 2017, operating as the Stars top option offensively. She led the team with 15.4 points per game, while adding some solid production elsewhere with 4.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.1 steals across 33.2 minutes. While the Stars are relocating to Las Vegas and are being re-branded as the Aces, McBride will remain with the same organization and will have roughly the same supporting cast. For that reason, a similar role should be expected looking ahead, making McBride a strong fantasy option once again.

November 30, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McBride currently leads Yakin Dogu Universitesi with 15.8 points per game through six appearances in the Euroleague.

McBride led the Stars in points per game with 15.4 points during the 2017 season. She continues to show her scoring threat with Yakin Dogu Universitesi since she's also shooting 41.7 percent from the field in the Euroleague this season.

August 14, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McBride had 14 points (5-10 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, three assists, one block and two turnovers across 29 minutes during Saturday's 68-84 win over the Dream.

After a brutal five-point effort Thursday, McBride was able to bounce back a bit, recording 14 points while shooting a solid 50 percent from the field. It definitely wasn't her best overall performance of the season, as she's averaging 15.6 points per game, though it was a step in the right direction. It wouldn't be surprising if her numbers continue to rise over the next few games and she does have big-game potential on the offensive side of the floor, making her a viable fantasy option despite the recent drop in her numbers. In addition to her 15.6 points, McBride also boasts averages of 4.0 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.2 steals across 32.3 minutes.

August 11, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McBride finished with a season-low five points (2-11 FG, 1-3 3Pt), two rebounds and one steal across 23 minutes during Thursday's 94-74 loss to the Sky.

McBride was ice cold from the field during Thursday's blowout loss, seemingly getting the early hook because of it. She hasn't shot well over the past three contests, going 10-for-40. Even with that being the case, Thursday's game can probably just be chalked up to an outlier, as she's scored in single digits just three times this season.

August 1, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McBride recorded a career-high 31 points (9-22 FG, 5-11 3Pt, 8-8 FT) to go along with four assists, three steals and one rebound across 37 minutes during Tuesday's 93-81 victory over the Liberty.

McBride, the Stars leading scorer this season, demonstrated Tuesday why she's relied upon within the team's offense. The fourth-year player out of Notre Dame generally hasn't been the most efficient player out there, making just 39.1 percent of her attempts from the field, but there's no doubt about the kind of upside she has as a scorer. Tuesday's performance provides all the more reason to give McBride a legitimate look in DFS when the Stars take the floor.

July 29, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McBride finished with 20 points (5-11 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 8-8 FT), five rebounds and one assist across 32 minutes during Friday's 85-73 loss to the Sparks.

The Stars' leading scorer at 15.6 PPG, McBride continued her impressive season Friday. While it wasn't a standout performance, McBride is one of the more reliable players available for deployment in DFS, capable of being the glue that holds a lineup together.

July 25, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McBride (ankle) managed 12 points (3-10 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 5-6 FT), three rebounds, two steals and one assist across 29 minutes during Tuesday's 85-76 loss to the Mystics.

McBride struggled from the field, especially from behind the arc, during her first game back in action after missing the Stars' past two contests with an ankle injury. Tuesday's game was also San Antonio's first matchup after the All-Star break, which extended McBride's time off even longer -- having not played since July 16. As a result, McBride's performance can likely be chalked up to rust, rather than an indication of a trend. She should continue to be a solid DFS option moving forward, as she's the Stars' leading scorer and can provide solid value through supplementary stats as well.

July 25, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McBride (ankle) will play during Tuesday's game against the Mystics, Doug Feinberg of the Associated Press reports.

McBride, who missed two straight games prior to the All-Star break with a left ankle injury, will return for Tuesday's matchup against the Mystics. She's averaging 15.6 points (leading the team), 4.3 boards, 2.3 assists and 1.2 steals across 33.2 minutes per game, making her a solid fantasy option.

July 22, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McBride -- at the All-Star break -- is providing 15.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.2 steals across 33.2 minutes per game.

While McBride isn't the most efficient shooter out there, at 39.0 percent from the field and 31.2 percent from long range, she's the go-to option for the Stars and leads the team in points per game. Though her nice workload of 33.2 minutes per game helps McBride have a high fantasy floor, she doesn't consistently produce much in the way of supplementary statistics, ultimately limiting her upside.

July 20, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McBride (ankle) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Fever.

McBride will be missing her second straight game due to a left ankle injury. Thursday's contest marks the Stars' last game prior to the All-Star break, so she'll now have extended time off with the hope of making a full recovery. With McBride sidelined, look for Kelsey Plum and Moriah Jefferson to operate as the starters in the backcourt again Thursday.

July 18, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McBride (ankle) won't play in Tuesday's game against the Dream.

McBride tweaked her left ankle during the fourth quarter of Sunday's bout with the Sun and is apparently still hurting. The guard was able to put weight on the ankle after exiting the contest, according to Howard Megdal of SummittHoops.com, leaving Stars coach Vickie Johnson hopeful that McBride won't be in line for an extended absence. The Stars are expected to go with a starting backcourt of Kelsey Plum and Moriah Jefferson with McBride unavailable Tuesday.

July 16, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McBride suffered a left ankle injury in Sunday's game against the Sun.

McBride scored 14 points in 27 minutes In Sunday's game and is now potentially at risk of missing more time should the injury be deemed serious. The guard will likely go through testing Monday before her status for Tuesday is decided. Moriah Jefferson could be in line for more minutes should McBride miss Tuesday's contest.

July 12, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McBride finished with 18 points (2-8 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 12-13 FT), six rebounds, six assists and three steals across 38 minutes during Wednesday's 79-72 victory over the Fever.

En route to her team-high 18 points, McBride drilled a season-high 12 free-throws. Impressively, she also handed out a season-high six assists and swiped three steals while committing just one turnover. McBride, currently the Stars' leading scorer at 15.7 points per game, is certainly worth a look in DFS on most nights due to the huge role she plays for her team.

July 8, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McBride finished with 22 points (6-18 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 8-8 FT), four rebounds and one steal across 35 minutes during Friday's 92-77 loss to the Mercury.

McBride continues to be one of the lone bright spots for the struggling Stars this season. She's currently leading the team in scoring, averaging 15.5 points to go along with 4.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.1 steals across 33.3 minutes per game. With those numbers, she can be strongly considered in DFS on most, if not all, nights that the Stars take the floor.

July 6, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McBride recorded a team-high 12 points (3-12 FG, 1-5 3PT, 5-6 FT) to go with two rebounds, two assists, one steal, and five turnovers during Wednesday's loss to the Sun.

Despite shooting at 25 percent from the field, McBride was still the top scorer on the Stars with just 12 points. She also recorded five turnovers, the most produced by anyone during the tilt. McBride is still one of San Antonio's most valuable players, however, averaging 15.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.0 steal across 33.1 minutes per contest.

June 27, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McBride registered 17 points (6-19 FG, 0-6 3PT, 5-7 FT), along with six rebounds and three assists across 36 minutes in Sunday's loss to the Lynx.

McBride's performance Sunday marks her fourth game scoring in double-figures and her tenth game in double-figures of her 2017 campaign. The guard out of Notre Dame is currently averaging 15.4 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists across 33.8 minutes per tilt.

June 22, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McBride finished Wednesday's 78-81 loss to the Wings with 11 points (4-11 FG, 3-6 3Pt), five rebounds, one assist, two steals and two turnovers across 36 minutes.

McBride's scoring numbers continue to be underwhelming in recent weeks, as she's now put together three straight games with 11 points or less. She's currently averaging 14.8 points per game after a strong start to the season, so it wouldn't be surprising if she was able to bust out of this recent cold streak as soon as Friday's rematch with the Wings. McBride has combined to shoot just 9-for-35 from the field and 6-for-21 from the three-point line over her last three contests.

June 20, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McBride totaled a team-high 11 points (3-14 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 3-3 FT) in addition to nine rebounds, three steals and two assists across 34 minutes during Sunday's 75-57 blowout loss to the Storm.

Don't let her status as a guard fool you -- McBride can rebound the ball. She posts 5.0 boards compared to just 2.3 assists per game and hasn't ripped down less than six rebounds in any of the past five contests. Unfortunately for McBride, the Stars, and those who have deployed her in DFS recently, her scoring has started to become choppy. After averaging 17.3 points through the team's first six affairs, she's posting just 11.0 points per game over her past three appearances. Considering that McBride averaged 17.1 points per game last season, it seems likely that her past three games are likely just a cold streak, rather than an indication of a trend. She could be worth taking a chance on in DFS while her price has dipped due to recent performances in hopes of a bounceback game.

June 11, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McBride tallied 15 points (4-13 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 4-4 FT), six rebounds, three assists and three turnovers across 39 minutes in Saturday's 85-81 overtime loss to the Sky.

McBride didn't have the best day shooting the ball, going just 31 percent from the field overall, but she was still able to score 15 points. She'll continue to be the Stars top option offensively and McBride now boasts averages of 17.0 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists across 31.9 minutes. McBride can continue to be considered an elite scorer in the WNBA, so her lower shooting percentages Saturday shouldn't scare off fantasy owners moving forward.

June 7, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McBride recorded a team-high 21 points (9-14 FG, 2-5 3PT, 1-1 FT) in addition to six rebounds and one steal across 32 minutes in Tuesday's fall to the Storm.

The fourth-year WNBA star is on pace to have her highest-scoring season yet, averaging 17.3 points per tilt thus far. McBride is also posting averages of 3.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.0 steals, and 0.5 blocks to begin her 2017 campaign.

June 5, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McBride finished Saturday's 85-77 loss to the Sun with 27 points (7-14 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 9-9 FT), six rebounds, two assists and two turnovers across 33 minutes.

McBride struggled to just six points during Wednesday's tilt with the Dream, so Saturday's bounce-back performance was much needed for the fourth-year pro. She shot an impressive 50 percent from the field and 66 percent from the three-point line, while also converting on all nine of her free-throw attempts, which gave her a new season-high of 27 points. McBride should continue to be the Stars top option offensively, with most of her fantasy value coming from her scoring, which is now at 16.6 points per game on the season.

June 1, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McBride recorded six points (3-10 FG, 0-5 3Pt), three rebounds, one assist, one steal and a block across 30 minutes during Wednesday's 70-77 loss to the Dream.

It was a game to forget for McBride, as she shot just 30 percent from the field and missed all five of her three-point attempts. It was the first time she's fallen into single-digit points this season and the fact that so much of her fantasy value relies on scoring easily made it her worst performance of the year. McBride boasts averages of 14.0 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists across 29.5 minutes, so look for a potential bounce-back against the Sun on Saturday.

May 30, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McBride finshed with 18 points (5-12 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 5-5 FT), four assists and three rebounds across 31 minutes during Sunday's 80-66 loss to the Lynx.

The fourth-year guard has gotten off to a solid start in the scoring department this season, averaging 16.7 points per game on 47.1 percent shooting. However, she's turning the ball over 4.0 times per game and doesn't provide much fantasy value in terms of rebounds (2.7), assists (2.7) or steals (1.3). While the turnover problems will likely subside, McBride doesn't flash a lot of potential in improving her rebounds, assists or steals -- ultimately limiting her fantasy impact.

May 25, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McBride scored 18 points (6-13 FG, 0-4 3PT, 6-6 FT) in Thursday's loss to the Wings.

In her second game of the season, McBride misfired on all four of her three-point attempts but was effective getting into the lane and drawing contact. The former Notre Dame standout is now averaging 16.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists on the year.

May 20, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McBride finished with 14 points (5-9 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 4-6 FT), five rebounds, three assists and two steals across 28 minutes during Friday's 78-72 loss to the Mercury.

McBride took the floor Friday after missing the first two games of the season while competing in the Turkish League Playoffs. While she scored the ball well and even swiped two steals, she committed a costly six turnovers and got tagged with four fouls. Last season, she averaged 17.1 points and 4.0 rebounds across 30.8 minutes per game.

May 19, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McBride (personal) will take the court for the first time in the 2017 season in Friday's matchup against the Mercury, The Summitt reports.

McBride missed the first two games of the season while finishing up the Turkish League's playoffs overseas. While she has only been back in the country for less than 24 hours, the Notre Dame product will give it a go Friday. She tallied the best numbers of her career in 2016, and will look to carry that momentum into her season debut.

May 14, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McBride (personal) will remain out for Sunday's game against the Mystics, FOX Sports reports.

McBride remains overseas while playing in the Turkish League playoffs and she's not expected to rejoin the Stars until they're complete. There remains hope that she'll be back in time for Friday's tilt with the Mercury, but look for her status to be updated again later this week.

May 13, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McBride is currently playing in the Turkish League's playoffs, so she will miss Saturday's season opener against the Stars, Terrence Thomas of the San Antonio Express-News reports.

McBride posted the best numbers of her career in 2016. He tallied 17.1 points, 4.0 boards, 1.9 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.7 threes across 30.8 minutes per game. She figures to pick up where she left off as soon as she returns from Turkey. She enters her fourth season with the Stars primed for another big year.
